I think the reason we even have mods is that the Chinese still don't understand the american market. The Asian manufactures never "get" that there are a lot of us that like big, brutish, simple designs that we can take apart and tinker with. Many of us don't care about led lights, auto switches, computer chips, etc. I don't think they will ever understand that we are willing to pay twice as much for half as "good" if it ellicits an emotional response. Just think of how long Japanese motorcycle companies kept trying to convince us to buy thier products because of their quality and technology while Harley was selling out of v-twins at $30K apeice.

The custom wood mods sell out really fast, and sometimes it's a couple of weeks before they reopen ordering. These guys are not big operations. In the case of Kaji, for example, it's just him and his dad. And I think all of these guys have day jobs, so ...

It doesn't help that some people order 2 or more at a time. I can't blame them, considering how hard it is to get an order, but still, it would be nice to let others get in on the secret of mods. I suppose limiting orders to one per person per session would help, but it's got to be hard to do that when you really don't know from week-to-week how many orders you'll get. It's better to meet your quota all at once than to limit orders and hope for the best.

For what it's worth, my Ali'i took about 5 weeks from order to receipt, but it was well worth it. I am very pleased.

I find it interesting that it is mainly the juice mods that are selling out so quickly. And that a lot of the buyers are relatively new. At least to ECF. I think we are doing good at getting the word out that thee is something better than an Ego/Riva clone and that there more to life than fluffing blue foam or Lipton Tea bags.
To all the innovators out there, "Thank You!".

It shouldn't be any surprise that that juice mods sell out so quickly as dealing with the juice is the biggest complaint those that vape have with the process.

For the most part all of the higher end MODs are made in limited production lot quantities so as more people vape and look to upgrade and/or add to their collection of PV's the faster these production lots sell out. Not to mention that the newest MOD today is easily the older MOD pretty quickly as technology changes and improves so those that feel they always have to have the newest and the best are always looking to buy that newest and improved product.

Hear, hear. I totally agree. Now if only someone would invent a juice feed system that looked more like a traditional analog, they'd REALLY hit the e-cig jackpot. Foam, filler, cartridges, and short battery life are for the birds. Until I discovered bottom feeders, I was 50/50 analogs and e-cigs. Now I am 100% e-cig (juice mod) for over two months. They are the BEST!

What I want is a mod with a clear juice tank and plug in coil - see how much juice is left and easy to clean the coil. I've gotten faily good at guessing how much juice is left in my ce2's, but it would be nice it I could really tell. And all the ones, both ce2 and regular atty's have not gone bad, it's that atties get clogged and refuse to pass fluid to the coils.

The AFS v3 due out in December will have a clear tank option if I understand imeo correctly(not an easy task)

It sucks looking at what you want and seeing it always sold out. When a business blows up like that it just seems like it would be wise to hire more people. Think of all the money lost by not being able to get orders. Seems like a bad business decision to me.

With regard to the wood mods, it would be kind of hard to expand. Many case parts are handmade. And if you hired a staff, you'd have to deal with recruiting people, paying salaries and benefits, paying insurance in case they got injured, paying employment taxes, etc. With a relatively limited market and a serious possibility that the entire industry will be shut down by the government, it would just not be worth it. For the wood mod builders, it's better as a side business that generates a little extra spending cash.

Before Henry Ford came along, all cars were built by hand from the ground up. They were expensive, and not many were built from year to year. Once Ford introduced interchangeable parts and the assembly line to auto manufacture, car production soared, prices plummeted, and soon, there was a car in virtually every driveway. With wood mods, that approach would not work. But with metal mods, it might. Parts could be built in bulk and assembled on an assembly line. Craftsmanship would not matter, as all a worker would need to know is how to assemble his or her specific component. But still, the cost of setting up such an operation could be prohibitive, especially if the government does shut down the industry.

I think for the foreseeable future, it will remain a slow process with a lot of disappointment and out of stock items. But if the government ever clears e-cigs as healthy, and bans and restrictions are lifted, the growth of the industry will be huge, with plenty of factory-built juice mods to choose from.

I am still really new to the vaping scene (a little over 3 weeks now!) and I want an ali'i so bad. I remember seeing an "evolution" video somewhere on youtube where he talks about starting with a basic e-cig model like a 510, then to an ego, then to the mods. When i first got into this i thought "ill never want one of those crazy looking mods" 3 weeks later, Its next on my hardware list. On the one hand I am very happy to hear of the great success. Demand is remarkably exceeding supply! But on the other, now I see I may have a difficult time getting my hands on one of these amazing mods.
