Hello, I am new to vaping, but I leaning toward skipping all the usual steps and going for the ProVari, but the question is - is there anything better than ProVari out there? Also, what are the limitations of ProVari - does it have any? - in terms of what can be used with it, cartomizers, tanks, etc. Thanks.

It depends on who you ask. - I'll tell you that I prefer many devices to the provari. It doesn't have the most important feature I want in a PV. It isn't a feeder. -- Those who prefer tube mods will likely tell you something else entirely. Some people will say the provari is the holy grail - some will prefer less expensive VV tubes - some people prefer the idea of variable wattage over variable voltage (though I contend they are the same thing).... I could type for an hour about what features might be preferred over others.

I can tell you this, though: If you want a variable voltage tube mod, you sure won't be unhappy with a provari. It is among the highest quality devices available.

six pretty much hit it on the head sayong it depends on what you want. I have a ProVari and I love it, but it all depends on what you are looking for. If a one button menu system isn't for you or if you are looking to run low ohm coils a Provari might not be for you. When it comes to its tough quality build though to me it is worth every penny. If you want to use kanger T3's youre going to need a 510 to ego adaptor. The first step you should make is deciding on what you want from your mod.

Well, since I am new to vaping, I probably do not know what I want, but do know that I like quality products that are reliable, flexible and easy to use. I would like to be able to try different juices (pre-filled cartos and the other kind), clearmizers, tanks, etc.

I does not seem to make a lot of sense to spend $50 for a starter kit, then $80 or so for something else incrementally better and only then something in the price range of ProVari. It seems to make sense to just go for ProVari's price range from the beginning. I obiosly have not used ProVari, but I have watched a lot of reviews. From what I can tell, one thing that I personally do not like is one button and all that clicking to get to different functions. It seems two or three buttons would make it a lot easier to use different functions, but I like the minimalistic-polished-Apple-like design.

Question: Apart from esthetics, does the converter diminish its performance in any way?

Well, you're right about not spending $50, then another $80, etc. I'd roll big soon on a high end mod that had the features I wanted. I believe I would have saved money in the long run had I initially thunked down on a product that would have lasted versus cheaper entry level products I tried that either broke due to their own cheapness or that leave me wanting more.

If you want a VV tube mod...

The Provari is top dog... there is no real competition.

It works great for all 'consumer' tanks, cartos, atomizers.

.

It CAN be used with Rebuildable Atomizers, to some degree, but will not be able to handle SLR vaping... But it's not built for that anyway.

If you want to seriously get into RBAs... the Provari is NOT the best device... an RBA running over 1.0 ohm is a waste. (IMHO)

If the last 2 sentences didn't make sense to you... Get a Provari

The Provari is the only Tube Mod I own, I bought the Provari for something more stylish, and I use my Plastic cased Box Mod at work. I've had my Provari for 2 weeks and enjoy it immensely, unless you're going to use SLR (Super low Resistance, <1 ohm) Atomizers, don't over think it.

The one-button menu is very easy to use so don't let that put you off, more buttons does not necessarily make a menu easier to use. If you find you don't like it, I'm sure you could make most of your money back by selling it. It comes with one of the better warranties offered.

The provari is an excellent PV, no doubt. I ordered a provari mini some 3 weeks ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. As such, I just ordered another mini, today.

Today, I also placed an order for a Sigelei ZMax V3 OLED Telescopic. At a 1/3 of the price of my provaris, it's worth taking a look at. This will be my hiking and shooting companion.

Oh, to answer your question . . . There is always something better and no one PV or thing rules all.

- Andy . . . Challenge the day.

When did the current version of ProVari come out? I wonder if they are going to release a new version soon. Does anyone know?

Can ProVari be used with Vision Ego Clearomizer 2.0, eGo CE4 PLUS V2, Kanger Protank, Who's Your Daddy tank, MINI Vision Vivi Nova Tank System, Kanger T3 eGo Bottom Coil Clearomizer, and pre-filled Blu cartomizers?

Just curious why you went for the mini?

I was looking at it, too. Any comprehensive reviews out there on it?

I own a Provari, Segelei/Ovale V8, Smoktech VV Gripper, Silver Bullet, and a BB. The Provari gets used 90% of the time, because it is the best all-around APV I own. I bought the two gripper-style box mods thinking that I'd use them for out-and-about vaping, but I still grabbed the Provari most of the time.

I use primarily pyrex cartotanks for my juice delivery devices with a 2.5 - 3.0 ohm single coil cartomizer (Ikenvape). I also have two AGA T2 rba tanks that I had all intentions of using on the Silver Bullet, yet prefer using them on the Provari with a 2.0 ohm coil. My reasoning is I prefer a cooler vape and like to adjust my voltage to the flavor of juice I'm vaping..

I love my Provari so much, I rewarded myself for my 1 year smoke-free anniversary with a new Mini which arrived today. :headbang: This will be what I bring with me when out of the house now.

Aside from its superb build quality, consistancy, dependability, and durability, the feature that often gets overlooked about the Provari vs it's competition is knowing that Provape will always be there to repair my Provari's for as long as I own them. No Chinese-made APV can claim that. Once those break or dysfunction, consider them throw-aways. The Provari is for the vapor that is looking for a long term device.

pro vari's are excellent tube mods. they're well built, pretty much indestructible, and accurate as hell. the customer service is excellent, and you can get an extended warranty that will pretty much cover you for 2 years. it's compatible with almost everything you can think of as far as tanks, cartos, etc. i've had mine for over a year, and with a bit of maintenance (very minimal-like q tip swabbing the connection), it works just as good as the day it came in the mail. being new to vaping, you may be overwhelmed with the choices you have. i waited until i was 3 months smoke free and knew i was in this vaping game for good to buy mine, because it is a hefty investment. i'm glad i did it. i use it every day, like a tool. yes, there are cheaper ways to go, and being new you've got to ask yourself if it's worth the initial investment at this point.

sure, there are other devices out there that do (ALMOST) the same thing (ALMOST) as well as the provari, and some do even more (variable wattage). in the end, you've got to ask yourself if it's worth the money to have a reliable device you can depend on for years, or if you still want to explore what the market has to offer. i started off with 2 ego twist batteries, and i still use them from time to time. i love them. i also own a boatload of other pv's aside from the provari, but that's because i'm out of my mind when it comes to my vape stuff...lol

as far as the one button thing goes-all you should need once you find your sweet spot is that one button-you'll get used to the functionality very quickly. that's part of the beauty of it-the simplicity. my advice is to see if it's worth getting into variable voltage in the first place for you-grab a couple of ego twists or vision spinners, a decent cartomizer tank, and some cartomizers. play around with that, and if you decide you like the flexibility, then go for the provari.

does this rambling post help you at all? lol

The current 2.5 version was released a month or two ago. It was merely a cosmetic change of the stainless steel tube; no inner electronics were changed. Provape has denied releasing another new version anytime in the near future.

The Provari uses a standard 510 connector. Any eGo threaded device will require a 510-to-eGo threaded adaptor, as is typical with most APV's.

You'll need a 510-Ego Adapter to use any EGO Threaded Tank or Clearo, it only adds 1/2" to the overall height. They screw on -off easily but I don't want to be messing with it all the time so I leave mine on. I don't care how a Tank or Clearo looks when vaping, just HOW it vapes.

Baditude types faster:2cool:
