And why would one choose to use a mechanical over something like ProVari?

3 main reasons:

1) A mechanical has no electronics that can .... and will degrade over time. Anything with integrated circuit boards will eventually die one day. Where as with a mechanical, it has the potential to last forever.

2) A Provari has amp and voltage limitations built into the electronics. A mechanical is only limited by the battery. If you want to vape at higher wattage, the Provari won't beable to.

3) Look and design. Many people prefer the look and design of mechanical over the electronic-looking APVs. Mechanicals tends to be simplistic yet sleek, often times allowing you to customize their look and function.

If I could only have one it would either be my Zenesis ASH or my iHybrid F3CTA. Hard to decide between the two because I just got the F3CTA and I'm still working out the quirks to get my preferred vapor production. But the fact that the F3CTA is 3 devices in one (a hybrid, a mechanical, and a genesis atomizer) is pretty darn nice.

Not really ... the ones I have all work pretty well. For someone new I'd recommend an IGO-L. Dirt cheap, easier to build, and a real performer. For Genesis I'd say either the RSST or AGA-T2.

In other words, using the same device and juice, would one be able to tell the difference between, say, Kanger's T3 and an IGO-L in a blind test?

If you can get them working on all cylinders, there's no comparison, an RBA will outperform just about anything out there. However, the trick is to keep them working that way.

I have found them to be finicky. For me, they haven't been a set and go device. If something goes wrong, any adjustment will take me about 15-20 minutes to figure it out and change, which I often don't wish to devote to them except on weekends when I have more free time.

Isnt the smok octopus rda kinda like the igo? Its pretty cheap too. But not as nice looking and probably not nearly as quality. But maybe a good jumping off point?

I need to try the cartonal setup. The cartomizer fill, without the tank, did not go well for me, so I dropped them as an option for now. What did work well is dripping using 510 bridgeless atomizer from High Desert Vapes and using a regular 510 atomizer with a cartridge, as well as using Kanger ProTank, T3 and CE3 clearmizers.

Tried it again sunday morning and got an E5 code! I've dropped them an email. Kinda sucks that they don't offer phone support.
