i think its the shape of the top cap and reduced chamber. some people are doing a single coil in the stumpy. but in the center in between the 2 posts. leaving both afcs open. i havent tried it like that yet but it is supposed to rock.

I saw that single coil stumpy build but....i cant see getting good flavor out of that build. There is no way airflow is hitting the entire coil. Way too far from the air source and really out of the natural path of airflow through the atty. If the centered coil is mounted high enough though I guess it would work.

Sorry I'm a pilot so I'm always concerned with the "aerodynamics" going on[emoji15]
I was skeptical also about the single coil between the post stumpy build. I originally bought the stumpy for temp control application but I thought might as well give the single coil a shot. Tiger wire or twisted is the way to go!! Quad twisted 30 metering at .64 ohm. Crazy thing I found out was the more airflow the better the flavor. Also the other crazy thing is positioning of the air where it's hitting the post instead of the end of the coil. It's just whacky but it works!! I'm a lung hitting flavor chaser soooooo ;)

Sounds like I need to get a Derringer before I go for a Stumpy. Also looking for a good place to get Japanese cotton.
I've got both. Really like the derringer but I like the stumpy better! So much so I've got a second stumpy on the way:D

If Koh Gen Do is your jam, Dermstore has it in stock - $12 and free shipping. I bought a box of it like 9 months ago and still have the vast majority of the box left. It lasts a really long time... not quite as long as my 376,000ft of rayon, but a long time. I've been using the KGD almost exclusively since I received it.

I have a copper Memphisto v2 on my bench I was gonna demo. If you want it after I try it out for a day or two you are welcome to it. It's ready to go I just need to use it for a day or two to see if i should order more.

I also have a demo unit velocity clone in black that really has big airflow. It has a factory bf pin in it that has been modified.

The Memphisto is a much better quality atty IMO.
If you have a wide bore tip to go with the mephisto I'd gladly take it snd pay you a few bucks for it too. Idk how copper would look on a red, green or blsck reo but. The velocity is intriguing though too. Big cyclops slots with indirect sir flow too. How does top afc vs side afc affect temp on the same builds? I vape my derringers around .3 to .4 and it's perfect temp for me.

I don't currently have any drip tips other than what I use in my own rotation. You are welcome to either of those demo attys. Pm me if you are interested.

You might also consider the forge. Using the included SUPER wide bore it is a pretty hard hitting beast. Not near the air as the other two though.

I can vouch for the Mephisto V2. I used to have an authentic (non-BF'd) and that thing would change the atmosphere with a quickness. It was probably the foggiest atty I've ever owned. Not much of a flavor chaser but, damn, that thing would make the haze.

I also had the Ivogo clone before buying the OG. And, honestly, the Ivogo was damn near the quality of the original.

Yes. This mephisto clone I have is one of the nicer machined clones I have seen. I'm gonna coil the demo up tonight and put some unflavored in it[emoji1] Maybe try out some 24g nichrome[emoji91]

Holy crap..... this thing is insane! Stuck it on the avion and she makes that atty sing! Not sure my lungs can take much of that but yeah its a good atty[emoji1] believe it or not I was getting decent flavor too!

I always got very decent flavour from the Mephisto (clone). I have one complex ADV - an absinthe variant - and the Mephi did a great job of drawing out every single note of the juice.

In fact, Ima trot it back out when I get the Avion. It's got a nice Jules Verne-ian look to it - might complement the mod nicely.

Chalice 3 & Nuppin are still at the top. I really like the Stumpy as well (but in order to reduce the airflow enough for me, I have to plug up the single coil holes... I could go off on a long rant about how much this annoys me- it happens with a lot of attys) and the Nectar Micro. I really loved the reactor, but sold it because no AFC.
You? I am always open to suggestions, and getting tired of buying attys and selling them right away because AIRFLOW!
Seems like there are so few of us anymore.
I really wish there was a thread somewhere just for MTLer & the attys we love. Maybe I should start one.

I've had the same issues and frustrations with afc and it seems that the number of MTLers are dwindling, so our type of attys are not so plenty, especially in the larger diameters. The Nectar is the first 22mm that I'm positive will always be on at least one mod. I liked it enough to get a 3rd. So right now, it's Chalice and Nectar. I love the size (perfect!) of the Nuppin, but I couldn't get a satisfactory vape from it so I sold it. I don't have the patience for tricky or temperamental attys. If I can't get a good vape from the first build, it gets set aside or sold.
Let me know if you start a thread. I'd definitely subscribe.
Long live MTLers

I feel your pain. Chalice and Nuppin seem to be the only quality ones I've found that suit. It's even becoming difficult to find nice drip tips that aren't all bored out. As much as I'd love to find a 22mm shortie that works for my MTL style most seem to be geared toward wide bore and I've yet been willing to fork over what it takes just to try one out. Great suggestion about a MTLer thread, Henry Etta.

I might just do it for real, General Vaping Discussion?? Or RDA?

Have you tried the 14 mm bf atty from delaniemod in spain? Forgot what it's called but todd did a review on it and said it was good albeit a pain to build on. It had afc iirc
That looks kinda crazy... might be really good, just worried about the crappy finish. But, it is only $40. I might have to try it!

So you're digging the Nectar? I had a nano & sold it, now I have a Micro, and I might end up selling it as well. The quality, design, looks, flavor, ease of build, and draw are all perfect... but I just can't get past the noise! Isn't that ridiculous? I complain about these 22mm attys being too cloudy, and here's the perfect one, and I'm still complaining . I hear you on the Nuppin... took me a minute, but I'm so use to it now, that it feels easy. (Considering how those things sell, I can not for the life of me figure out why absolutely no one has built another 18mm atty)
But after using the Stumpy for a while, everything feels unnecessarily complicated. I guess I should also mention the Derringer for MTL attys... I had one for a long time, and they can close up all the way. Mine leaked like crazy because I built the coils so far out that the wick rested on the lip of the deck, but it was one of my favorite attys for dual coil/flavor.

yeah, the noise of the Nectar is the only downside...not a stealth vape that's for sure lol. But as you said, everything else is perfect so I'll happily put up with it. I decided last night to focus my search for an 18mm atty since I basically have the small and large attys covered. I dusted off an Atomic clone (RM4?) last night to give it another go. It's close, and I may end up using it occasionally but I sure wish there were more 18mm options.

How 'bout it Roscoe, do you know of other 18mm (or midsize) options?
