Blargh!!!
My Sapor arrived, and I'm in a rush to pack and travel....
Hmmm - might just throw it and building stuff in my bag in case I have time in a hotel room...some SS wire showed up today, to experiment with too (no TC, just wanna try SS).

Anyway - first glance - I think this Sapor is RIGHT up my alley.
As long as I can figure out how to build it - I'm a coil-tard, and usually struggle to just get my usual straighforward duals mounted. No clapton or tire tread or nothin' for me - I'm a simple vaper.

It's got a lot in common with my so-far favorite atties:
- up high air intake for no-leak
- big enough air intake for lung-hits, but the AFC works to cut back
- Option for your own drip tip, though the draw with the "medium chuff" (metal one) might work for me, too
- SOLID hunk of metal there - pretty heavy and should take a bang if necessary

R - does it "drain"? With the "not-direct-through-a-pin" hole - will excess liquid pool, or drain back?
Just curious about that.

Will report back soon as I try it, but THANKS - it looks good!!

That particular conversion won't drain completely due to the higher than normal squonk hole. I decided not to modify the insulator for a low hole as to not take any chance of a spinning post down the road. Also with top/high air attys I don't worry as much about complete drainage. Another benefit is a more saturated vape and less squonking IMO.[emoji6]

I agree, some folks prefer complete drainage while I prefer some liquid to remain. I feel the cotton will absorb it anyway so it's less squonking in the long run. I also tend to run a little more cotton since I feel it gives me a "wetter" vape.

Makes sense - and it's not one where the coil will be right on the deck gurgling in a little extra liquid...
Me, I tend to go REAL light on cotton - but I'm open to trying new stuffs...
(thus the SS wire...:))

I have enough ni80 and kanthal to last me a very long time. I'm not likely to try SS......I will just have to live vicariously thru you all[emoji1] Also have 20 lifetimes worth of rayon considering I dry burn and rewick every 100ml or so[emoji15]

And a 24mm version announced?? Crazy is right. Doesn't matter to me, I'm still into a BF version to go with the one I have on pre-order.

FYI (apologies if posted before):

The delay is caused by improvements from the beta testers. The new deck looks absolutely sqonktastic!

What's the deal with SS wire? What am I missing? I don't do TC, or regulated at all for that matter. Not at this point anyway. Advantages? Disadvantages?

Easier to work with, can be dry burned & cleaner taste.

What's the resistance compared to kanthal?

Are you using the same gauge as Kanthal, or is there a learning curve there too?
Word on the street so far is it ramps up faster than A1 and is cleaner tasting overall. I switched to Ni80 because of ramp up time and so far from Pdib's testing 316L seems to be just slightly quicker. He did mention that unlike Kanthal and Ni80 that keeps rising, (heat wise), as it is fired, 316L will only get so hot and then stall out so as to give a more mellow vape. That is how Peter described it the other day.

As to the resistance, it is in the same ballpark as Ni80 is to A1... ie...26g Ni80 or 316L is equivalent to 24g A1

You guys gave me incentive to drag out the SS wire I had sitting around. Built dual coils for the Stumpy, 3.0 mm ID, 0.5 SS 316L, 9 wraps. Meters out to 0.27 ohms, which is a bit low, but it vapes great.

From that pic the wire almost looks copper in color... I wonder if it is just the lighting or this is normal? Do you have anything else built in that Ω range to compare it to? Would also be interested that now that you have vaped it, what it meters out at? Is it still .27Ω or did it raise slightly like A1 and Ni80 does?
