I'm confused...the renaming is to distance the product from a cessation device but the name electronic nicotine inhalator implies a medicinal use.

Another seller using this route:

The Nicotine Inhalator - what it is, how it works and how to use safely.

Excerpts:

Doctors recommend that the smoker starts the course by using 6 - 12 cartridges per day for the first 8 weeks. For the following two weeks, the dose is reduced to half that amount, so between 3 - 6 cartridges. In the final two weeks of the course, this second amount is gradually reduced to no cartridges and stopping altogether.

Whilst the inhalator helps the smoker to deal and cope with the physical withdrawal symptoms of not smoking over the 12 week period and it also keeps the smoker's hands busy during this time, so the smoker is left to work on his behavioural dependence of nicotine and find other activities to do in times of stress or anxiety, after food or whilst drinking coffee or socialising.

"Totally Wicked have responded to the concerns from the FDA and several ‘stop smoking’ groups today by renaming their market leader, the TECC Titan 510, the Titan E-NI (Electronic Nicotine Inhalator)."

So, it's now called the "Titan Eenee". Hmmm...Sounds a wee bit strange. "Titan" and "eenee" don't seem to fit well net to each other.

:p

I guess I can understand their effort here, but I think the damage has already been done. I'm not sure how much this will help.

But hey, I guess there's no harm in trying. Anything to disassociate from the tobacco industry.

Isn't that dangerously close to marketing the thing as a "smoking cessation device"? I thought they were explicitly forbidden to do that without approval of the FDA...

MisterMe--Not really as they are marketing it as a "replacement" instead of "reduction"-----But ladyraj hits the nail on the head by pointing out that it dives into the murky waters of a medical device.

No matter what "label" is stuck on the e-cig really will not make or break the day for the Court---the "intended use" will and we will hear from the Court soon.

Not forbidden yet but calling the product an "electronic nicotine inhalator" may prove more problematic than e-cig. This is a typical guilt by association scenario. 8-o

On a personal note..Sun you inspire me...thanks for that!:)

I'm surprised that manufacturers haven't just started selling kits, no carts/juice, just kits.

Trash--that was proposed a long long time ago on here---it fell on deaf ears, but would really have not made any difference anyway when it comes right down to it. Manufactures have made the bed and we must sleep in it now however the Court rules.

Not a supplier or seller as far as I can tell. Appears to be a quitting smoking site that covers all the NRTs. Not sure but I'm thinking that section is about the Nicotrol inhaler rather than PVs.

NOOOOOO! Don't apologize there are more of us around than you might think!:thumbs::thumb:

Electronic Nicotine Inhalators? Oh, yeah, lightsaber is already taken. Inhalator is worse than Inhaler. It's kind of clinical. I perfer Personal Vaporizor or Nicotine Vaporizer. It's a little easier to sell the "that's vapor coming out, not smoke" campaign.

P.S. I saw MP&THG in the theaters when it first came out. I've seen that part about a hundred times. AND I own a copy of the move. ...but I still pressed play to see it again. :thumb:

That is a quit smoking site:

Owned and Operated by Helpwith Series Limited - Registered in England and Wales - Company Number: 4331344

Actually, if you read the entire section, it supports the use of a PV. There are also sections on other forms of NRT written in much the same format. Seems like an honest attempt to help people quit smoking to me. JMO

Although it's not perfect, I think it's a step in the right direction. There is nothing worse for us than the ecig being associated with a cigarette or smoking. One of the most damaging things to vaping is the name "electronic cigarette". It's NOT a cigarette. I don't want anyone to have the impression that an electronic cigarette is anywhere related to a cigarette. I have a device that allows me to vape, not smoke. I don't want people thinking it's a new way to smoke. I DO want people to know that this electronic nicotine inhaler is something that did help me to quit smoking nasty cigarettes. I would be happy to use the new name because it's closer to the truth and more acceptable name that implies helping poor smokers to finally find a way to help give up cigarettes. I will be using that name in the future because I am really using an electronic nicotine inhaler, and NOT a cigarette.

And change the name all we want... however, this concerns me. Now, there is suggested End Use Date which is one thing that is consistent with NRT's. All NRT's have an end use date.

THIS, is treating the nicotine addiction. Unlike the current methodology with ecigs where you can continue using nicotine for as long as you want, this method gets you off of the nicotine.

If smoking is not a disease according to the CDC but nicotine addiction is a drug addiction and is considered a brain disease, then this philosophy does in fact "treat, cure, or mitigate a disease".

As far as what to call the electronic cigarette, I know many disagree however, IMHO, having it called an electronic cigarette is what is SAVING us right now. Inhalator, vaporizer, inhaler, these are all associated as medical devices. Sure, we don't want to be associated with tobacco smoking so we can use our PV's where ever we want, unlike tobacco cigs, however, first we need to make sure they stay LEGAL and then we can start fighting with the anti-smoking groups to show their differences.

Oh Lacey, bravo. You are 100% correct.

As I've said before, calling it a Winky Dink won't make any difference to regulators.

E-cigs are not NRT products. They are NR (nicotine replacement) products. And this kind of suggested step-down off nicotine method is exactly what riled the World Health Organization into its slap against e-smoking. Bad, bad move.

We are what we are, and we must travel the road to recognized legality. Semantic changes do not alter an absence of scientific facts. Subterfuges are for fools.

E-NI>>> Or ECig

Take your pic, its all semantics but in my opinion its better than linking it to the word cigarette.

E-NI in no way makes it sound like an NRT product, nothing more than expressing what the product is and does.

Its Electronic and you inhale Nicotine.

A cigarette is filled with tobacco and lit. Never seen an E-Ni do that.
