AR grade usually means 'analytical reagent' - doesnt get much purer than that. That stuff is usually hideously epxensive compared to lower purities. But ti's odd - India is a major player in the pharmaceuticals market, yet there's no pharmaceutical grade PG around... checking the local yellow pages for chemical or pharmaceutical suppliers might yield some results...

I spoke to a few people here in India and all could find is propylene glycol that is AR GRADE is it ok to vape with it ? Should I buy it ?

Someone from S.Africa recently asked the same question in the new member forum. They didn't get an answer but there's some info in there.. maybe someone will come by here and answer. I know USP is recommended for us here.

**I see you got an answer as I was typing.

he said its lab grade , AR grade

He said I could swim just before he threw me in the river...my grandfather was wrong.

Point of the above statement is that I have no confidence in "he said" because I don't know him, his honesty, his thoroughness, nor anything else about him. My grandfather loved to spin tales so even though I was small and inexperienced, I knew enough to not believe everything he said.

If it is analytic reagent PG, I'd vape it. I'd do my due diligence to make sure the AR stood for analytic reagent though.

So, are most people just using food grade PG? I've been googling and almost all the results I see are for food grade PG. Amazon has stuff that's labeled 99.5% pure. Is that safe enough?

No. We are using USP. Which can be used for food and even labeled as food grade (or any lower grade) but we look for the USP grade. "P" is Pharma.

50 gallon minimum order quantity - holy crap, your great-grandchildren would be busy vaping away on that one ;)

Well, quality/purity grading usually goes like this ( in ascending order )

crude/raw

technical - thats why some peple shy away from vapes beacause technical grad PG is indeed used in anti-freeze and de-icing fluids.
They keep forgetting that it'S the purity that matters, you can get water straight from an open sewer or bottled or distilled...

for synthesis -

pure

very pure

for anaylysis ( usually the highest purity that can be attained with current technology )

Sticky part is, that these terms aren't internationally standardized - pure in one country or even from one manufacturer may mean something else from another country or another manufacturer. The pharmaceutical standars like USP, BP, EP, Ph.Eur. are pretty similar to each other and define exactly the level of purity that must be met to qualify.

If you can get hold of a testing certifacte, you could compare it with pharma grade PG and see where you stand with it.

Personally, I'd have no qualm about vaping it - Selling AR grade that doesn't meet the buyer's specs and gunks up his chemical plant (which is most likely a whole lot bigger than our vaporizers ;) ) would kick this company off the market real quick...
