Got an arctic yesterday. What a tank! I'm really liking mine. It has a super long break in period with the coils though. It took 4 hours. Was starting to think I ruined the coil, then BAM... vaping like a champ now! Starting with the dual coil .5 ohm head. Once I go through that one, I'm going to try out the .2 ohm head on a mech and see how the 90ish watts feels. I have all the kanger sub tanks, and the arctic fits right in! looks nice on my hotcig zero sx.

The hype is real. I finally used one of the .2ohm coils and this tank is the real deal. Consecutive hits of ANML Looper @ 100w....NO dry hits!

You're correct about the break-in of a new coil on this. I've found 15-20min of 70-80vg is sufficient. Do them primer pulls...get the bubbles flowing :)

So how does this compare to the Kanger Subtank?

with the arctic, there is more heat, density, and flavor in the vape. i think the arctic looks better as well. coils are about the same price. the .5 ohm dual coil heads go through juice really fast, yet it holds enough juice to get me through the day. really wish there was a rba section though!

If you haven't bought an Arctic yet the only reason to buy one over the Freemax Starre or it's twin the Maganus is it's hype. Hype = availability of heads down the road. My Starre has better flavor than my Arctic (especially the 0.2ohm coils), I can actually get it apart when it's hot from chain vaping, the glass fits in the metal better not leaving sharp edges exposed, it comes with a spare tank glass, it has twice the juice capacity, it doesn't have those laughably narrow juice fill slots, and I don't have to vape crap flavor for 1-2 hours to break in the coils. 1/2 tank and you're golden.

The Starre is still under everyone's radar right now with all the Arctic's hype but it's going to explode soon once enough people try it. I just don't want a bunch of people to make the mistake I did and spend 40 bones on an Arctic when the Freemax beats it in every way for the same price. I don't know how they got vertical coils to produce so much flavor to the point I'm thinking I need to make a special juice batch with less flavoring for it.

Don't get me wrong, the Arctic is a great tank, but after using it for 3 weeks the cons are starting to really stand out. Especially when the Starre/Maganus is better in every way at the same price point. The first time your Arctic is chain vaped dry and you can't open it to refill you're going to be ....... The base expands from the heat and seizes the tank base, then you have little to grip to unscrew it besides the airflow ring that spins like mad. You'll be digging for something to wedge into the airhole so you can unscrew the friggin thing that you'll be refilling twice as often. The Starre has this wonderful knurled airflow ring that locks so you can unscrew the tank to refill and unscrew the whole kit from your mod with ease. Twice I've gotten my Arctic stuck on my Sigelei where only the tank section wants to unscrew and tons of times I've struggled with getting just the tank section off to refill. These new tanks generate too much heat to not have a decent place to grip them.

There are a couple cons to the Starre/Maganus though: it's roughly 7-8mm longer to hold that 5ml of juice. (this thing's huge!) and it's so new and unknown that availability of tanks and heads is slim. Once the hype machine discovers this thing availability will drop to zero and you'll see the preorders and waitlists the Arctic has been enjoying and profiteers selling on ebay for $70. After a couple months production should ramp up to meet demand or the next next big thing will stunt demand.

One thing's for sure, these subtank wars are killing my vape budget.

Just came home with a new Arctic - and strange enough mine has two things that I haven't seen in the numerous reviews or other postings... it has a larger tank (5ml) and an airflow control in the drip tip like the Atlantis v2 (except it's a standard 510 unlike the Atlantis!)
I sat at Vapors Vault (shameless plug) here in St Pete, FL for about an hour trying the Atlantis, Atlantis V2, Arctic, and the Herakles - All had good air flow and nice flavor. Bear in mind, I walked in with my Goliath. I'm just a bit tired of rebuilding and all the seepage/leaking/rewicking of my Goblin, Cthuhlu, Goliath, Derringer, and Lemo... sometimes I just want to do a quick coil swap and refill! (now more often than not!)

First Impressions: Incredible air flow!! I'm used to my Goblin and Cthuhlu so i was VERY impressed with the Arctic's air flow! So much air flow that the flavor actually suffered! I had to half close off the bottom air flow and then half open the drip tip air flow to get the best flavor - and even then the airflow was great!! I used the built-in .2ohm coil and filled it with juice at the vape shop. Amazing vapor and excellent flavor (once I restricted the airflow a bit). I've vaped the entire 5ml already and I'm about to refill it. I had been holding off on a sub-ohm tank until I saw some more expansive comparisons between all the contenders I was interested in: Youde's Zephyrus, Starre/Maganus, Atlantis, Subtank Mini/Nano/etc, Innokin iTank, Delta II, and about a zillion others that seem to be falling out of the sky every minute.... I had planned on holding out for my hitlist: Could use aspire coils if necessary and had an RBA - so much for my hitlist!! Oh well... now I can't wait to try out the dual coils on this bad boy.

My one concern: I noticed that my iStick 50 screen would stay on and it was irritating me. When I looked at it, the resistance kept fluctuating between .2 and .3 ohms - not sure what's going on but it has me a little worried. I've been vaping at 30W with this coil and it is just how I like it - nice cool but huge cloud and great flavor.

Overall, I'm quite pleased. It' simple, easy to fill, no leaks, great airflow, and it looks nice sitting on my black iStick 50
The one thing I don't like - Turbine!! LAME. Marketing BS....

I'm thinking I'll eventually spring for the Starre tank (it matches my hitlist nicely) but so far, I'm liking the Arctic - especially whatever version I got (V2? V1.5?)

I can tell I'm going to need a 100+W boxmod soon.... Especially if I want to give the .2ohm dual coils a good workout....

Yeah the Artic is a good tank...I vape mine between 60-65w
using the .2 ohm coil on either the 100w IPV4 or 150w IPV3..
Sounds like you got the latest version as mine only has the small 2ml (I think) tank and missing the air controlled drip tip....I'm jealous! Lol

After searching around for quite a while I finally found the exact model of what I got:
Horizon Arctic 5ml Sub Ohm Tank - Code-3 Vapor
I also saw it referenced as a V2 on a EU site.... I feel lucky as hell and if it would have been the standard version, I probably would have went with the Herakles or the Aspire V2 if at all....

It's been a real treat so far! I'm on my 3rd tank full and no leaks, dry hits, gurgles, or anything! Vaping it at 35W on my iStick 50
Found some really interesting Arctic rebuild tutorials (especially the dual coil parallel build) on youtube! I might actually try this:
The video isn't the greatest but the info was VERY interesting!

Holy crap!? clones already!? 7ml?? $14.60 Arctic V2 Styled Tank Atomizer BTDC Sub Ohm Subtank - 7ml / 0.5ohm (30-80W) / stainless steel + glass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Unbelievable!

1 Week Update:
Still going on the original .2 ohm coil. I've kept the watts to 30 with continuing good flavor. I've noticed the coil cotton is starting to darken and flavor is starting to mute a little. Tonight I raised the watts to 40 and vapor production and taste have gone up a bit and its a bit of a warmer vape but I think the coil is wearing down. My ohm reading keeps jumping from .2 to .3 (it has from the start) I have a Sig 150 and a Starre tank on the way and I just got a 5 pack of .2 ohm BTDC coils. We'll see if the ohms jump on the new coils....
I'm a pretty big chain vaper and fill the tank about 4 to 5 times a day. It's a good thing I make my own juice!
Overall, I am VERY pleased with the Arctic! No leaks, no spills, easy to fill, excellent air flow, fantastic vapor and great flavor! Everything else is packed away!

To the guy who said he was gonna put the tank on a mech... Not sure if id recommend that.
Why??
I have the Arctic with the .2 ohm coil on my BFM mech.. At 4.1v it's equivalent to about 60w...it hits great, clouds/flavor just short of dripping on a RDA.. I did do a simple modification to make the Arctic 510 pin protrude about 2mm to work safely on the hybrid top cap...took all of 10 min...just sayin[emoji41]

You're safe as long as it protrudes. But some tanks with stock coils will allow the pin to be pushed upwards when the battery is pushed to make contact. Always be sure your coil is as tight as possible

Yeah, all my mechs have the hybrid top cap so I've always been careful about my tanks/RDA's having a protruding pin..that said I like the Arctic with the .2 ohm coil.. This pic isn't the greatest but shows how much the pin protrudes after the modification.. With the coil screwed in tight there is no way in hell can the batt push the pin back up either...just sayin
