are 18650 and 18600 batteries the same size?

Does anyone know if these 2 batteries (both 3.7v) are physically the same size? I have a mod coming that takes a 18650, I have several 18600 and was told it'll work of theyre the same size...

Hi dont think so. For 18650 the height is 65mm and 18600 the height is 60mm.

18650 is 65mm long if not protected, 18600 is 60mm long if not protected. If either battery is protected it will measure a few mm longer and perhaps a mm wider. Also, length of protected batteries can vary by maker.

A longer (or stretched) battery spring could allow the 18600 battery to be used in the 18650 device. Depending on the spring it could fit without modification.

I have never heard of 18600 - I've heard of 18500 and 18650

I never heard of a 18600 either, but I'm no battery expert. In fact, I never heard of a 14650 before I started looking into the E-Power 14650. I have two different brands of protected 14650s and they measure 69mm long.

Ask the vendor if the 18600 is correct. They could have mistyped 18500?

I would venture a guess that it's a typo and it's an 18500 battery. I have some spacers that I bought from cloudsofvapor awhile back that extend an 18500 to fit a mod that requires an 18650. However, if the mod you bought takes an 18500, an 18650 is too big.

There's a new mod out called the "dubacco". SteelJan has a vid of it on Youtube; it uses the 18600.

Battery sizes are: First two digits, diameter in mm. Second two, length in mm. Last digit a '0' indicates that it's round & not square.

Well FWIW I just ordered a pair of Sanyo 16650s (newer technology), supposed to be better performers than the 17670s (SOS).

Sanyo makes some great cells, there is a reason Panasonic gobbled them up.
