I just ordered my first carto tank. There is room for MANY different devices in my vaping collection. I even have a RDA.

I look at it this way. Sometimes you really want to fiddle with things for that perfect vape (RDA/RBA) and sometimes you just want something that works well without fiddling (Clearos/cartos/tanks). Variety is a good thing and I don't see it going away anytime soon.

I am pretty sure carto tanks are not only NOT fading out...but are still very popular. What happens a lot of times is that once a person finds something they really like such as carto tanks, bottom feeders, etc. (Provari seems to be an exception) they post about it for awhile...then don't have much else to say. Too busy just enjoying their vape! When something works really well there aren't many problems or questions, so there's not a lot to talk about...

This time last year the use of clearos became 'the only thing' when there became no such thing as a good carto coming out of China. This also caused clearo's to advance from the old CE2's into some pretty neat devices. When good cartos returned many that had never used cartos before found out that clearos were not the only way to get a great vape.

Cartotanks have been my preferred delivery device for almost a year. I find they give a more dependable, consistant, and more flavorful vaping experience than the string-wicked delivery devices. They in general are more sturdy and durable (I'm not fearful of putting my cartotank/PV in my pocket w/o it leaking juice, unlike a clearomizer or clearotank). They also are not position dependent; they don't need to be frequently tilted to keep the string wicks wet which I find annoying.

Just take a look at my photo gallery to see why cartotanks are my go-to delivery device: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/members/baditude-albums-pictures-my-setup.html

I love carto tanks, they are very easy and in my opinion vape way more consistently than vivi novas and other clearomizers....that being said I think rbas are the best flavor and make vaping into a real hobbyist paradise, just depends on how involved you want to get. I just ordered my second phiniac glass tank 2 days at after receiving my first. The vape is GREAT and it looks awesome on my device

 I'm not sure how to take those comments. Yes, that is me holding the blue Provari. Not one of my more flattering portraits of myself, but hopefully not too hard on the eyes for pushing near 60.

Now I'm curious to know how you had previously imagined me to look?

I'd say with the way OCD says his new colour anodized 22mm tanks are flying out the door that carto tanks are alive and well. Granted, when I buy one of his tanks next week it's for a Killer 705... lol.

    https://www.ibtanked.com/complete-tanks/anodised

Three of those flew straight to my mailbox for some reason ;)

It is a matter of personal taste. I am now one of those who swear by it (sometimes at it).
On that note, if it is time to refill and the tank won't budge, twist it until it moves. If you use upward force until it moves your wife will make you clean the counter and remind you of every penny spent on juice. Just an FYI

    This.

RBAs are fun but fiddly. I'm not a fan of clearomizers but the Protank rocks. My cartotanks are so far the perfect vaping system for me. In fact I just ordered another Phiniac to round out my collection.

To simply answer OP's question, they arent going anywhere. Too convenient. (Mine) don't leak, there are really inexpensive options out there (check out ikenvape.com) and generally trouble free. I love my genesis setups but if I'm leaving the house I use a carto tank. My vivis, iclears, kanger pro tank have spit juice in my mouth sooner or later. I've yet to have a carto do that to me unless overfilled....

Taste is a little muted compared to a genesis or drip, but thats a different thread.

I love my cartotank setups. Works well and they are fairly cheap. I rotate my flavors between 4 tanks. Ok.. I have 4 flavors and 4 tanks at the moment. I am not a chain vaper so 1 filled tank will last a while. Once the carto is primed, that is the hard part. Insert the Carto into the tank almost all the way up, use a syringe for a needle nosed bottled to fill. No mess.

Someone commented that it is a hassle to carry tanks around. I would like to disagree. I am able to carry up to 4 tanks comfortably in an altoids tin. Does not take up a lot of room in a normal person's pocket (and by normal, I am excluding the hipsters who wear those skin tight pants with just enough pocket room for their iphones.).

How about 8 tanks at a time? :D

    tankcase1.jpgmini-tool-set-with-case.jpgSwissGearcomputercase1.jpg

I found the above mini tool set that has 8 elastic bands that securely hold 8 cartotanks at Hobby Lobby. The tank case goes into my vape bage when I'm out of the house. The bag is a converted Swiss Gear mini-laptop carrying case with shoulder strap that I got at a Staples store on sale for $20.

Another more portable option are the above battery cases. Also has the elastic strap to hold two cartotanks. I got mine at RTD Vapor.
