If you ask this question here you will undoubtedly get one opinion. Yes, they are better.

Most of us that have switched to them breath easier, wake up without coughing, can be more active, can smell at taste things we haven't been able to for as long as we can remember, don't smell like smoke, and our overall quality of life has improved. To that point, you bet they are better.

We pretty much unanimously agree that ecigs are a harm reduction system. They are not good for you. The best thing would be to avoid nicotine all together.

If someone is going to continue using nicotine vaping is "probably" the safer route.

There have not been enough studies to tell us exactly what we are doing to ourselves long term by vaping. I am not a doctor but I can tell you that I feel worlds better after switching to vaping.

No doubt about it!! But probably not a "cigalike" - most people need at least an eGo style to find out they can quit. There are people on this forum who smoked 2-3 packs a day for decades and quit almost instantly with an ecig. I smoked at least a pack a day for 47 years and had quit within a week of using my first eGo. For many of us, it's the only thing that has worked.

Yep. I smoked a pack a day for 10 years. Started when I was 16. Picked up an SVD and a clearomizer a few days after my 26th birthday and haven't smoked since.

My parents smoked for 30+ years. I got them both ego setups for Christmas. Now they are both smoke free as well.

A girl I work with switched after she saw my success. Now she only smokes one cig in the morning.

Her boyfriend switched as well.

A few of my moms facebook friends from different corners of the world heard about her success and switched.

The way I look at it, I payed it forward just by switching to it myself. The success I had has been the reason that at least 10 other people are now not smoking.

but i wonder if e-cigs is better than traditional cig? is it really helpful?

Better? than smoking... depends how much you enjoy smoking and the health risks. An e-cig doesn't taste like a cigarette, but it can be nice and satisfying. Beware of models that look like a cigarette though... the chances of them helping a chain smoker is close to ZERO.

Helpful? - in trying to find an alternative (instead of smoking) - YES! :)

An e-cig won't stop you smoking. An e-cig can't get you off nicotine immediately. Most people who use one 100% of the time do it as a safer alternative.

I've had several juices that are spot on with some of the brands I used to smoke. So I'd have to disagree.

An e-cig won't stop you smoking.

Um...wut?

Maybe you should rephrase that?
Many vapers, including myself, stopped smoking completely by using vaporizers. In my case I quit the same day.

its true Vaping wont make you quit smoking, it allows one to switch over to another method of nic delivery since it is as effective as it is. Only thing that will make you quit smoking is your desire to do so or death... :)

I don't see the need to rephrase that. Many folks do quit.... but many do not. Just because it worked for you doesn't mean it will work for everyone. There is no need to give false hope to the OP, as the person using the e-cig has to have the "want to" in them, or they will not quit. And, if you force an e-cig, they'll hate it in the long term as well, kind of like my deep hatred of Brussell Sprouts that I was forced to eat as a kid. :) When I started vaping, I still smoked for well over a month and had to ween myself down by like 1 less cigarette per day until I finally laid them down. Just saying.

For those of you that don't want to rephrase that vaping isn't smoking. Please think about that again. Vaping IS NOT smoking. It is entirely different. I personally hate the term "e-cigarette". It links it too closely to smoking. I prefer vape or personal vaporizer. Or, for a funny name for it. Personal Enhanced Nicotine Inhalation System - penis.

I agree don't try the cigalike things they sell in the supermarket - to me they just left a horrible taste in my mouth and put me off trying vaping for ages. In fact I wouldn't even class them as vaping - more like desperately inhaling to try and get the faintest whiff of the real thing...
