I agree with the previous posters.
Since we can't at this point say
vaping is absolutely 100% safe... (neither is going out your front door, though)... I'd err on the side of caution. As adults we can choose to vape with an awareness that it's a pretty new thing & still being studied. Kids don't get to make that decision, so I think it's best to not take the risk.
I'd be more concerned with giving kids the impression that smoking is baaaad but vaping is okay. Well, yes, it
is okay... if you're an adult, etc. But, I've yet to hear of anyone who's taken up vaping who wasn't already a smoker in some capacity. Many of us are using it as a method to reduce or quit our smoking. And though vaping is certainly better than smoking, imo, unless you're vaping 0 mg liquid, you're still indulging a nicotine addiction. So, I would want to be careful of the impression I gave my kids. If they are old enough to understand, talk to them about it & keep an eye on their attitude towards it.
Personally, I think people who are going to become smokers are going to become smokers regardless of what their parents do. Some of us are just more susceptible to developing the habit I guess. I know people who grew up with smoking parents and
hated it, who now smoke. I was raised by very anti-smoking parents due to grandparents dying of smoking-related illness. My mom was telling me the other day that when I was little I hated smokers. In restuarants I would apparently very loudly say "Ohhh, that person is smoking! It
stinks!" and so on. Now I smoke... so... I'm not going to jump on the anti bandwagon of "OMG if you smoke your kids will." But, I figure why create the issue if you can avoid it.
