Are Standard REOs being phased out in favor of Low Profile models?

Hi all...I haven't been around in a while but I continue to rock my standard Grand and 2.1! In fact I'm installing the new contact kits tonight!!( yahoo!)

I missed the introduction of the of the SL mods but am hoping to get one for Father's Day! Since I don't have any interest in atties other than the RM2 I'm leaning towards the Standard configuration. That way all of my RM2s will be usable on all my REOs. I don't want to have different versions for different mods.

But it looks like more finishes on the SL are available in LP than Standard. That and the new LP RM2 have got me wondering: Are the "standards" on they're way out?

Sorry for the long post but I guess I've been going forum withdrawal :D

I also prefer the LP version, so as sales move that way I think you will see less volume of the standard, but the standard does address a specific use case and I can see it continue for people who want to run off the shelf attys and cartos.

Any RM2 will work on an LP, LP RM2 will only work on an LP.

I really like the standard for Rm2 and Cyclone use. The catch cup is really REALLY handy for those pesky oversquonks. However, I am hoping to pick up an LP soonish for my Cyclone AFC. Just hoping to find one used (ahem...anyone?) or a blem model. I've been spending way too much of late. I can't imagine the standard models going anywhere. They fit a specific purpose too well.

I'd imagine most sales favoring the SL and LP. I definitely need to get a hold of one soon.

However that depends, if the RDA you mostly use fits on the standard, there's no reason to go for the LP. After all, for a long time the favorite dream setup has been REO+RM2 :D

True enough until you want to run duals and brutally low 'lung-burner' coils, which you can do with the new rebuild kits and then suddenly you're interested in "what can i butcher to get on there?". I accept that while you CAN mod an RM2 for it, drill more holes etc it's rather pointless when there are atties out there designed for it.

In my case my ADV is a 0.6Ω single coil on an RM2 - but at weekends, when i can far more easily get away with bad behaviour (on account of not being at work!) i rip it up with an igo-w4 running duals at about half that.

For the versatility a LP wins.

Completely agreed. Well truth be told I've run triple coils at 0.3 ohms on the RM2 :D. However for those purposes there are better RDAs designed for that (specially when talking about airflow). No question about it, the LP is a lot more versatile.
