Every kit I have bought with the exception of my first 808 set has had something defective. Order some XL 808s one battery button breaks. First set of Rivas defective wouldn't hold a charge. Now got the Xpower 900 and one battery doesn't charge.

I know most of this comes from China, but seriously does anybody make a good, working, quality product?

I guess it depends on how much you're willing to pay for it. I also think that's why a lot of people turn to mods. Many mods are made locally (and there are kits available to make your own) that use a standard battery available at Amazon. The warranty that some of these come with is unparalleled in the 'starter kit' world of ecigs. I believe the Precise comes with a lifetime warranty. Most of the US mod builders also have a lot of integrity, and even though it may be beyond their given warranty period will work to make it right. It might be time for you to start exploring that world.

Get a mod. I know I know, at first I didn't want to carry a pipebomb around. You can find some that really aren't that big at all. For all the problems (battery life, dependability, vapor production, throat hit) you will solve by getting one, the fact that it doesn't resemble a cigarette will pale in comparison. Hear me now and believe me later. Oh crap I almost forgot.

Puresmoker makes great mods. They are based out of Tennessee. After spending a couple hundred bucks on the cig looking devices, I said "no more." Got the Icon from puresmoker. Had it for over a month now and never been more pleased.

I have to echo what was said about the mod-suppliers standing behind their products. As coincidence would have it, I had 3 different mods develop issues at one time. All 3 were from different suppliers. In each case the supplier took it back and repaired it quickly, and in 1 case replaced it with a brand new unit gratis. If you decide to go with a mod, the suppliers here are excellent.

Well I kind of thought the Rivas and my X-Power were forms of Mods...I have had no problem with service. I'm just tired of products that don't work. Vapor Junction was excellent they sent me a new Riva kit and then I sent the defective one back after I received the new kit. Litecigusa wants me to send the dead battery back on my X-power and then they will send me a replacement, which is ok since its totally dead, but having a new one on the way cuts down on travel time versus send mine in first and then we will send a new one. That doubles down time. Customer service is the #1 thing to me and I will always stay with a vendor based on that alone.
I don't care about cost of mods, but I don't want one thats complicated and I don't want a drip method pv only. Got to be able to use Cartomizers and Cartridge Atty combo...

I know some people refer to the eGo and Riva as mods, but I sort-of have in my head that if it requires proprietary equipment, it isn't really a mod but just a different model. Most of the so-called battery mods will allow you to use either cart or carto configuration; I believe even the juice feeders do. I just got a black Silver Bullet. I haven't really had it long enough to vow it's eternal function, but with standard 18650 batteries available at a wide number of places for 1/3 of the price of the Regokitty batteries with twice even the greatest mAh, it seems like a great thing. I still love my Riva and will likely still use it when out and about, but, especially with the meddling going on in the ecig industry, I hate to depend on something that may get increasingly difficult and expensive to get, and have to hope that arrives functioning, as I think the increase in demand for these brands has also led to something of a slippage in manufacturing quality in their haste to pump them out.

+1 on the mechanical styles like the icon / v3 and others...electrical mods are good but will eventually wear out over time. Buttons are only rated for so many pushes and will eventually give. It might be 1 year, 5years, or more, but something would have to give on an electrical mod. I've stuck with mechanical styles for the last 6 months and absolutely love them! Simple in design and mine have never given me an issue to date. Also like Elendil stated, even if it is an electrical mod, the suppliers stand behind them to ensure you get the most for your money! I've yet to have a problem with any supplier (knock on wood lol!)

Paulc35,
I haven't tried any mod PVs but the one part I had to send back to Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store., Vicki sent a pre-paid mailer in the bag with the replacement part. I had my new part, dropped the old one in the bag and placed it in the mailbox. Done deal!

If you are looking for that kind of "make it good and make it convenient" service try Cignot. They are known for their customer service. Lots of suppliers do the same kind of thing; These people are the ones that I have had first hand experiences with.
