Are these forums filled with shills?

There are some shills I'm sure... but I think there are more lurkers than anything.

I took about 10 months off from active posting(got busy) but I vaped the entire time and learned a lot in the process.

I will say there are less Shills here than on many of the "review" sites I found when I first started investigating e-cigs

I agree with ClippinWings. I lurked for a while before I got my first PV, and it was at least a month after I started vaping before I posted here. I haven't really done a lot of reviews, but I have told some people who are looking to start vaping that they would be better off to start with an ego style battery and a Vivi Nova.

I'm another one who only joined in August, but I've been vaping since Sept. of 2011...so I was "lurking" for nearly a year before I finally signed up. ECF just seemed too big and scary for a long time and I was happy at another vaping forum for a long time. Until it changed. As forums tend to do. But since vaping has been my passion now for over 15 months...I've bought a lot, experimented a lot, and learned a LOT, and figure I know a little bit about the subject!

Many people lurk until they have something useful to contribute, a few do shill but they are quite obvious. The shilling for profit stinks, but the shilling because of enthusiasm for vaping is kind of enjoyable to read. Reminds me of my own disbelief that something as cool as ecigs existed when I was just learning about it.

HyperRealist,

I didn't know if you are aware or not but when I started e-Cigs some time ago with the Njoy brand there wasn't a requirement to join ECF, I have been a lurker here for some time now. And that review was because the was another post asking about the Kanger MT3, but I couldn't post it in there yet since I just decided to join last month.

You see people with December 2012 join dates and 3 posts giving reviews like they have been vaping for years.

Don't assume that ones join date is a measurement of how long they've been vaping.

That's right.

I've been at this for a while and could get schooled by new members all day long on all kinds of ecig related subjects. Another thing I've noticed (and has already been pointed out) that lots of folks are so happy about what they've found and how well it's working for them, that they want to share what they know\found out.

Shills aren't hard to spot. There is a difference between fanbois and shills. The Mods can sniff'em out a mile away lol

Admittedly I think I fall into the category of someone who hasn't been vaping very long, joined in December 2012, and appears to rattle off a bunch of lingo like I know what I'm tlaking about.

I have a background in engineering, and specifically worked in electronic and microminiuature circuit card repair the first 10 years of my career. While I don't know much about vaping, I feel I know enough about DC Theory, Ohm's Law, voltage regulation, etc, to make valid contributions in technical discussions regarding different PV's based on the research of all the different models that I've conducted. With that in mind, I think it's safe to say that some folks will catch on to certain aspects of vaping faster than others. In my case, I feel I have a very strong understanding of VV/VW devices, how atomizers/coils function electrically, etc. A chemist could join the forum today and have a very thorough understanding of juice creation within days, if it takes even that long.

If it helps one person, then it was worth the time, even though it might come off as pompous to someone that was unaware of my background.

I think anyone that feels they can make valid contributions to the forum should do so, and do so often! I certainly don't put any creedance to post count or join date. Just my 2 cents...
