Are we in the middle of the "Golden Age" of vaping?

I'd liken this to the industrial revolution when everything is changing almost daily with new advances being made on all fronts. Legitimacy and scale are doing us all a lot of favors, as well as some major headaches (FDA), but hopefully this ride is just getting started. While some may bemoan the introduction of Chinese 30w devices (sigeili, not clone), I think that will be what helps to keep this train moving forward with more and more pressure to innovate everywhere. Same with juice vendors getting more and more creative, with genuinely new flavors instead of "tastes kind of like" that have been around for years. Tried vaping once before and quit for lack of options, no chance of that now. It's a great time to be involved to be sure.
Like you, I surely hope we don't look back at this time as the golden age of vaping.

To use a computer metaphore, the industry has passed the 1975 Altair stage, is currently into the immediate post Apple II era (ca. 1980) with a lot of small vendors and companies making a wild variety of stuff, and vying for position to get megarich in the upcoming beige box PC stage that will see massive consolidation, professionalization and standardization of the industry.
I had a ball in the 80s and 90s, when everything in the the computing world was new exciting. Nowadays it's mature and completely boring. So enjoy the cottage e-cig industry while it lasts: one day, it too will become boring, and you'll be glad you kept that old mod that has features you can't find anywhere else anymore.
Is vaping itself in the Golden Ages? I certainly hope not. Is vaping as we know it today in the Golden Ages? Unfortunately I firmly believe it is. I'm so thankful to have been a part of vaping as we know it today. Self regulating and innovative without intrusion.
Let's hope the industry is still growing, seems like more and more people are getting into vaping each day. Down the line I do think there will be restrictions/rules on certain eliquids and hardware but lets hope not too much is changed.
So I promised my opinion... I think this is certainly the golden age. With little restrictions every vape chef with a little talent and an Internet connection can sell their unique product. With regulation comes uniformity. I shutter to think that regulations will turn boutique vendors into a thing of the past with only Walmart juice makers being able to meet regs.

I agree, these are the early days. Technology will continue to advance providing more power in smaller packages (look how far we have come in the past 30 years in those areas). Those advances will make their way into the vaping arena eventually. Even if the FDA does impose limitations, I am convinced it will continue; maybe differently, but will still survive. People have a way of finding their way around rules and regulations that attempt to interfere with their enjoyment...
I don't think we're still there yet. I would think that PVs will evolve and get much better as time progress. Maybe years from now when less people smoke and more turn to PVs, this industry could be massive. Then we will be the fathers and mothers who had to press on over the difficult time, which should be recorded on the sociology text books quite similar to 60s and 70s. lol

if the fda as well as other international governments don't ruin it a lot we are at the beginning, our first Renaissance. right now it is a billion dollar industry and still just a minority of smokers have made the switch....

Not quite the Golden Age, IMHO. We've got to get through all this FDA/legislative crap first. If we do that, and the e-cig industry can survive intact, then I think in a few years we can talk about the "Golden Age". Right now, it feels like the "Expansion Age". New tech, new vendors..
