Hi all,

I'm looking for a recommendation for a pv mod from vapers who have used at least 3 different kinds of mods in any given sub-class. For example, if you have tried three different 5V mods, then I want to hear from you which one you believe is the best given your personal experience. Of course this is not limited to 5V mods.

Ultimately I am looking for a pv that will give me a consistent production of tons of vaper--but I only want to hear from those with experience with at least three different mods in a given subclass so to make sure that the recommendation is informed.

Thanks

I've tried almost every style of mod .And had many favorites . Cartos , Filler's, Wet Box's, Top feeders, Bottom feeders, And the Genesis . They all have merit and good uses . Taste has differences in each . Some are more convenient than others. And then you have cost and up keep, savings. To say one was better than the other would be like saying Apples are better than Oranges.
Your taste is different than mine . And one will fit your style different than someone else. Start with a simple one and work your way into the one that will be your favorite. Its a journey set back an enjoy the ride.

I agree completely with this. Well said traderdan.

I have a ton of Mods and although all have their advantages, you can't beat Super T's line-up of Mods. They're mechanical so they're not going to fail/disappoint you. They last a lifetime. I'd get one that you can do both 3.7 and 6V's on. I'd rather put out the money for his Mods than keep buying lesser ones and have to keep re-buying. Good luck and let us know what you choose. And...Merry Christmas!

Mods...what a wonderful yet horrible word it has become. Here is what I have come to realize.
The body of a mod is what will last you or not. If you purchase a good, quality made body all you are left with are batteries, atomizers and juice.
With this body comes a question. Will it be a top fed or a bottom feed body? I say get one of each as/when money allows. There is a difference, in my opinion. Being able to use the wick to help feed the coil makes a difference in taste, for me.

Next is to understand the battery life of the batteries you will use and the oomph they add to the chosen atomizer, while still retaining vape time.
Which now brings you to which atomizer are you going to use and abuse those batteries? Standard, LR, HV and every where in between, it all makes a difference.
Now you have to be able to know which types of e-liquids are your favorites and work best with which atomizer at what voltage.

For vapor, you need to have vg at around 30 percent, for clouds. This will lower the atomizers life. Be sure to blow out the atomizer daily (at night) to help with maintaining life expectancy. Perhaps using clear flavors over colored-the added food colorings are cloggers.

I wish this was an easy question to answer as the advice given would be just as easy. It is through trial and error that we find the perfect match with all of the moving parts and it is also an individual taste preference match.
I have 510, 801, 901 and 808 atomizers/cartomizers and they are all different with each unit and each juice and each resistance. Once you combine one component with the next-the game changes.

I have in my mod arsenal: Carlos juice box, Phidias, Ali'i, P10, P18, Little Sister, Chameleon, 10440 box mod, 14500 box mod and the 900 mAh ego-not really a mod, but some think it is a mod.

I know that this does not help, but it is all relevant in your decision making.

Adding: The Little Sister and Ali'i are Variable volt.

You will be the best judge of what is a good mod.
Your criteria of "tons of vapor" doesn't really relate to mod selection as there are several combinations that do that. LR and 3.7 volts, 5 volts (or more) and regular resistance, or higher voltages and HV attys. Vapor production is more a function of the atty/carto and juice. Sit down and make a list of criteria you want.
Looks,
Size,
maintenance (cleaning and charging),
cost,
voltage (can't do different volts unless your mod is compatible),
These are all things that only the vaper can decide.
For example; a $60, 0 to 30 volt, 3 amp lab power supply sitting on the table next to you, a 18 ga appliance zip cord, A small box mod with 6A switch and a 510 connector, and a 510 to 808D-1 adapter, can be set up to match the performance of any mod available. Great for sitting around the house, never have to recharge, adjust to do anything you want, all for less than the price of many primo mods. Not what you had in mind? Why? Write down why it's not what you want.

I do atty, carto on big battery 3.7 volt mods. Big batteries last a long time, but mine are fixed at one voltage. If you don't think you would be happy (for a long time) then consider a Variable Voltage mod. But for me, when a carto is performing well, 3.7 volts does it for me. As battery size goes up, so does performance (less voltage sag), and so does size.

I would also suggest experimenting (if you haven't yet) with the various type of cartos. This is possibly the biggest reason for performance differences between PVs. Shop around, read, and good luck on your quest :)

I'm looking for a newbie with whom I might share whatever humble nuggets of vaping savvy I've gathered from months of expensive trial-and-error. For example, someone who might otherwise make all the same mistakes I've made if I couldn't warn them otherwise—having been there and done that.

Ultimately, I'm looking to suggest the hardware combinations that have best served my own needs, hence might serve theirs—absent omniscience, that's the best I can hope to do for them—but I only want to advise those without a pathological sense of self-importance—i.e., those without the pregnant audacity to enter a forum asking for help, but specifying a list of conditions on who they'll allow to offer it, as though they're a CEO evaluating potential secretaries.

Amen to that PoliticallyIncorrect. I though I was reading the terms and conditions of a contract. After considering the tone of that question/demand, I said to myself "sorry bud, you're not getting a morsel from me" . Not if I took the first toke that ever wiffed off of a heated coil or had gone through a hundred of every mod there is. Show some humility AdamM:facepalm:

One more thing...I abosolutely have got to give it up to you PoliticallyIncorrect, I savored this one like a fine glass of chardonnay:

"but I only want to advise those without a pathological sense of self-importance—i.e., those without the pregnant audacity to enter a forum asking for help, but specifying a list of conditions on who they'll allow to offer it"

My god, a statement like that, so concise, poignant...what can I say but ...:w00t: I will savor that one for awhile.

Sorry to have offended. I don't think this has anything to do with humility or 'pregnant audacity' haha. I know what I wanted to hear about, and that was what the members choose as their favorite PV. The "having tried at least three different kinds in the same class" is to filter out those who, although trying to be helpful, are naming their favorite PV without having experienced a wide range for adequate comparison. A banana might be my favorite fruit if it is the only fruit I've tried.

Fortunately, some others in a different section understand the question and didn't feel put off by the nature of the question and have been thus far been very helpful. Thank you to those who have offered their favorites up! I recommend closing this thread--I'm not sure how helpful it will be to people now.

Well, sorry but you didn't offend me. I don't mind being helpful but take any of my advice with a grain of salt. It's your own decision based on your own desires. Throwing a baited hook into the sea of hype brings out all kinds of predators :)
Shop for value, eliminate glam and glitter if you want something that works. Unless of course you want to fit in, then get something you will feel proud to put in your signature.

Rocketman: your advice was good advice, and I might try that route. But for now I just want to hear about other peoples favorites. It's hard to come up with a list of criteria when you don't know what it is that you actually want (level of voltage, for example). I have happy vaper in my signature because its a Canadian company who was very helpful in my purchase of my first PV, a 510. I will definitely alter the sig to include the company that sells me a deserved favorite!

Opinions are a dime a dozen...I've spent a few bucks...This set-up is dependable, performs on par with anything available and is very cost effective to operate...

comment was directed at those that buy mods because they collect and then list in their signature, ha.

You probably know more about what you want than you think.

Listening to others, well, it's pretty common for someone to lock on to a favorite and brag about it as a crutch to support they own decision. that's what I do to convince myself that I like 3.7 v and don't need 5 volts :)

Since you mentioned 510, think about what would improve the experience.
Does the short battery charge life get annoying? Or does rotating a few batteries do OK?
Does the 510, when it's fresh off the charger, and the atty is working just right, and the cart is clean and full hit well enough?
or do you need more? Compare your desires to the examples you have, you own experience base.

Once you have narrowed your selection down to a few, go search for bad press. Pick the one with the fewest bad comments. Just about everything out there in the mod world is going to perform better than a factory e-cig.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe most of the hype I read about the bestest most outstanding mods people brag about.
Especially those that have most of them and there bestest one keeps changing :)

I never thought about those factors. I could repost with more reply criteria haha

The hit I get off the 510 when everything is in proper working condition is not enough. I also want to avoid the constant swapping of batteries that goes along with the 510. I think I'll wait to get a few more 'personal favs' in replies to the other thread I posted (and I'll keep checking here if the replies stay on topic) and then I'll do research on 2 or three of the apparently favorite mods.
Thanks for your help rocketman, I was really thrown through a loop with those menacing replies :)
