Are you worried at all about inhaling flavorings?

So I was reading last night about how the flavor they use to make buttery, creamy flavors can cause "popcorn lung", an irreversible and terminal disease where the bronchial tubes turn to scar tissue. It's safe to consume in large quantities, but poses a threat when vaporized.

This was a cause for concern in the ecig community a few years ago, and most (but not all) vendors switched from using "diacetyl" to structurally related chemicals such as acetyl propionyl and acetoin, which as far as I can tell from google, the verdict is still out on whether these chemicals cause similar damage to the lungs.

Doesn't this worry anybody else? There are hundreds of food flavorings deemed safe to consume, but has anybody inhaled the amounts that we inhale day after day?

Do i worry about it? YES. Do i lose sleep? No. Why? Well, without a huge body of medical research to go on, all I really have is how i feel, and how others tell me they feel. It seems the majority of vapors feel improvements in their overall health, that being the case my attitude is "how much worse than smoking can it possibly be?" Until someone proves to me that its as unsafe as smoking i'm content.

And even if it turns out vaping is every bit as bad for me as smoking, i enjoy it more. I like having flavor. So if it turns out that its 6 of one and a half dozen of the other, i figure i may as well keep on vaping.

I'm not trying to spread panic or scare anyone, but the OP does have a point here. It really doesn't matter if you get your juice from a vendor that shows the ingredients (although I would only buy when I know the ingredients). The point here is even when the ingredients are *known* they still contain FOOD flavoring and no one really knows the effects of inhaling a product made to be ingested, but not necessarily made to be inhaled. There IS a difference between eating something and inhaling it. I, for one, would like to know exactly what that difference is.

(Edit) I had to respond to what Phorbin said.... I totally agree. I do know that I feel a heck of a lot better than I have in YEARS and my "smokers cough" has completely gone away. I only have to use my asthma inhaler once in a while as opposed to twice daily (when I was using analogs). So for now - I'm going on how I FEEL and just keep hoping difinitive studies will come along and tell me what I want to know at some point.

good point. even if i'm not inclined to change back to smoking i would still like to have a better idea what i'm putting in my body.

I'm going to second this thought. I'm a true newbie - I -just- ordered my first PV (a Riva 510) today after a few days of research. But to be honest, I could be locking my lips around the tailpipe of a car and I'd still probably be coming out better than I am now. Even if it turned out to be unsafe, it seems it's safer by far than just smoking.
