I have accidentally ingested my share of liquid, I have yet to find one that isn't horrid!

no outcomes are listed.
not a single fact other than there were calls.
was any one actually poisoned?that would be nice to know.
are the children ok? OMG!they did'nt check up on that to ram it down our throats if heaven forbid
a child was harmed,or even worse a pet?
how many total calls does the center receive per year?
the established media doesn't report the news,they create and shape it.
this is a classic example of how its done.
unfortunately the majority of people in this country don't,cant or wont understand this.

The ANTZ won't let this one go, will they? As Skoony says, all they have to rant about is the fact that more people have placed a call to a poison control center. Nothing about outcome, nothing about the severity (or lack thereof) of "nicotine exposure." Nothing about how the number of calls on this topic relates to overall calls on all topics.

Followed by the usual ANTZ dogma, except that comment about e-liquid tasting good is a new one to me! Will we see this comment repeated in future "news" reports? Stay tuned....

PS: It occurs to me that some of these calls may simply be responsible parents calling to ask "I've started using an ecig. I'm going to do my best to keep it away from my child, but what symptoms should I be aware of, just in case he does get hold of one?" Good question, good thinking, but it gets a tick in the "nicotine exposure" box at the PCC just the same.

This is just the type of biased reporting the media loves to do. Of course if there is a new product there are bound to be more incidents. By the way how long has the media harped on parents locking poisons in cabinets to make them child proof? God I hate selective reporting.

Thanks ... that might be the "motherload" story which was responsible for the offshoots. It's pretty junky.

Thank goodness these kids only got into (horrible-tasting) nicotine, which might make them get a headache or throw up. If they'd gotten into the Chantix instead, they might've had skin reactions, some of which can become life-threatening, including rash, swelling, redness, and peeling of the skin, swelling of the face, mouth, and throat that can cause trouble breathing, agitation, hostility, depression, changes in behavior, thinking, or mood, suicidal thoughts or actions, anxiety, panic, aggression, anger, mania, abnormal sensations, hallucinations, paranoia, confusion, nausea, sleep problems, constipation, gas and/or vomiting. And that's just with a normal dose!

Brewer might be gearing up to stop net sales into Arizona... the usual propaganda to get public support. Not saying I know this but I've observed her tactics a long time now. I mean, haven't they gotten ANY calls involving kids and nic gum?

They exaggerated and perhaps even lied about a few things. But, the video expressed a few things that the Labels can perhaps take a more robust tutorial for idiots approach with. I don't know where non-childproof caps are available, but that one dude had one from some unknown source. (No doubt from the PrueGland industries of propaganda). Did anyone recognize the label? If so, has anyone written to ask about their caps?
I hope the majority of Vendors are requiring caution labels, childproof caps, and even signs in their stores for instructing the newbies who haven't found the forums yet. Every Vendor I've purchased from do have Cautionary steps in practice, but I no longer shop around like I used to now that I've pretty much found my faves.
We need a vendor registry, not a fed regulation.

The 2012 Annual Report from the American Association of Poison Control Centers shows conventional tobacco products such as cigars, cigarettes and chewing tobacco as the cause for 8,366 calls, of which 7308 (87%) were about children younger than 6 years. The next most frequent cause of calls was pharmaceutical products such as the patch, lozenges, gum, etc., with 1,272 calls, of which 672 (53%) involved children younger than 6. Finally, there were the 438 calls regarding e-cigarettes, of which 172 (39%) were about children younger than 6. Ingesting nicotine triggers vomiting, which explains why oral nicotine poisoning fatality is so very rare.
