So in order to run a single coil you need metal tape? Not trying to be ignorant or anything. I just got this tank and was wondering if you can run a single coil.

I have no clue what metal tape has to do with doing a single coil build in the Aromamizer. I am a newbie, so apologies if I missed something.
The metal tape is to block the air hole or poke a smaller one in lieu of the afc band. I just leave them all open on my build, my deck has 2 holes near perpendicular to the coil so it works fine as it is for me. I block the hole on the other side if I want some heat to my vape, full open is just a hint of warmth which I like most of the time.

metal tape has nothing to do with single coil. the metal tape is for replacing the vape band .
so build your single coil . I just use it to close all airholes and then open just one , that's just my preference for the air amount I like.
I have to agree with you @cigatron on the Aromamizer. It is a great and stable tank working great with TC. I have a black one setup with verticals and a silver one doing horizontals and both are great with flavor and vapor. Using rayon I am now able to completely keep up with juice requirements. No leaking and just a superior tank. The only thing missing is an incorporated airflow control ring and top fill and it would be perfect.
Another tank, and not without its issues but giving great vapor performance for me is the Mutation MT RTA. Even better and more saturated flavor and vapor, but those damn post screws and leaking has been a problem for me. I am awaiting grub screws and will work on more dense wicking. Despite those issues, it is a monster juice sucker and works well with TC once you take care of build issues. I am hitting that with a 140w preheat and 90w with a 24ga 6.5 wrap Ti build on your signature 6-32 screw. That coil size, as you have stated many times, seems to work on just about everything with many types of wire.
It is now my standard go to coil size.Cheers!
Well said guys. I learned a lot here and thanks to that I have this thing rockin. When I got this tank I was using Ni200 since I like TC. Shortly thereafter I switched to Ti. 26 gauge 6.5 wrap 2.5mm spaced horizontal air holes line up to the coils (I was lucky that's how it came) 2 holes half open. DNA 200 at 470 degrees, 100 preheat 40 watts. Device monitor shows it regulates power at around 30 watts to maintain 470.
I think wicking is the most important thing in any tank and I found @cigatron had great advice for wicking this tank. I stuff the coil pretty tight and fluff the tails. Then cut it so that there is no wick touching the deck (at least at the juice holes) but tucked down in the wells making sure you also have good shoulders coming out the coils. As noted I do not run the power he does but found his advice sound for my style as well. Juicy flavor and great clouds.
well I have seen all types of coils ..duels..quads to . and all kinds of wire and gages some require more watts .
80 watts is not for me so . use single coils 1.2 to 1.5 ohms and 18 to 20 watts ..I am probably in the minority.
so what ever turns you on ! the aromamizer is very versatile .
no experience with such low ohms ..maybe try it with lower power ?2 weeks in, and I'm in the same boat.

24g Kanthal 6.5 wraps spaced 3mm ID wicked with rayon or cotton will get you over 90w using 80vg juice providing a warm vape with no dryhits if two of your airholes line up directly in front of your coils.
Sorry, I can't remember who mentioned checking the airhole/coil alignment, but my airholes do not line up with the coils. They line up directly at the wick ends.

Speaking of airhole alignment, let's see if SC's claim that alignment makes no difference is really true.
The first image is with the airholes clocked 1/8 of a turn back so that the coils are centered between airholes (indirect).
The second image below is with two airholes directly in line with the coils and the other two in line with the posts (direct).
Vapes were taken one after the other but just to be fair I took the direct airflow vape after the indirect airflow vape just in case the wick ran dry on the first vape.

As you can see it makes a huge difference in power delivery to the coils. 40-ish with indirect and 60-ish with direct while maintaining identical coil temps. Just sayn. Notice also how with the more restrictive airflow of indirect in the first graph that the juice flow kept up with the power whereas with direct airflow in the second graph the juice availability was waning towards the end of the vape and power was being regulated down. Fun Stuff to see real time!
EDIT; Took a couple more vapes with indirect and regraphed a more stable power.

I'm not getting dry hits, it just takes alot of force to get full lung hits with AFC wide open. I don't like the drip tip, so I took it off and have been vaping directly from the top cap. Still takes too much force to inhale.

After about a 2 week rerun, it's still hitting like a champ. Flavor is great. I don't know what I did wrong the first time around. I'm wanting to try a 304 SS build. I can't do TI and NI200 just doesn't fit the bill. Anyone know where I can get some?
