ive been building my own coils on this thing for over 2 weeks now and want some input.

I've tried vertical coils on the velocity style deck but the tips of the wicks kept burning before anything and I abandoned the vertical set up.

On my horizontal build, 26 gauge kanthal 8 wrap dual cool for 0.5 ohms, I've been really enjoying but I cannot get certain juices to wick properly.

They are 80vg/20pg blends and I've tried less cotton, more cotton, and so on and these keep giving dry hits on the 2nd or 3rd pull. (Only vaping between 34-38 watts).

Is this just an issue with this RTDA and maybe I should just move to RDAs?

what is the inner diameter of your coil... i have never had a dry burnt hit on my aromamizer and I vape anything from regular kanthal coils to claptons all the way up to 90 watts. It is wicked exactly as you would a dripper tuck the tails under the coil and leave a pocket under the coil for air flow.

I wouldnt build anything smaller than a 2.0 inner diameter coil because then you will start to have choke issues.

On my dual vert builds I drop the wick straight down between the deck holes. I usually leave the holes exposed so the juice can percolate up to my wicks without being impeded. The biggest problem with most wicking is simply too much wick. Remove any wicking below your coils. You are probably just choking the thing out with too much wick. Make sure your wick shoulders are good and hearty on your horizontals. Try less wick and let us know. Post some build and wick pics.
