Arrrgh! Facebook prompts!

I have tried so many ways to get rid of that damnable Facebook prompt after a serious error in judgment caused me to click it one day.

Following suggestions in an earlier thread, I got rid of it -- temporarily. I used Crap Cleaner, and it seemed to work. Nah. It was teasing me. Every time I post a comment, up comes a window asking me if I want to put the thread on my Facebook page.

I most certainly do not.

But there is no option now to forever banish this unwanted prompt. I'm stuck with making sure every time I post that I "skip" posting to Facebook.

WORST FEATURE EVER. I'm on the ragged edge of leaving ECF and moving full-time to another forum. Every feature needs an easy "undo". This morning alone, I have run Crap Cleaner twice, to no avail, manually removed caches and coookies and index.dats, etc. What this does is remove material I'd like to keep for ALL forums and regular pages I visit. All I want is the Facebook prompt gone ...

Arrrgh.

It's being looked at. The Facebook feature is an add-on for vBulletin, the forum software, so it's not like it's a quick fix such as changing a setting. It will take some code work, and that's quite a bit trickier.

I sure wish they'd speak up then. I've read nothing but "how do I get rid of this." I LOVE Facebook, and am on that social media site most of each day, but the idea of posting to it from ECF was a very bad idea.

But, can I say for one, please don't leave ECF... people complain about changes, 'movings on', and this that and the other...

I'm just frustrated. I love ECF and the people I meet here. Thanks for the kind words. I'll hang tough -- and click "skip" Facebook after every post.

Did you try this through Facebook?

Click "Edit Settings," you can edit your settings for each specific application and site you have connected with including whether you want that site to always publish stories, ask you before publishing stories, or never publish stories for you.

I've searched extensively for any cookie, dump the cache daily, etc. I do not get the Facebook message with Firefox, but get it with IE (Firefox gives me yet another ECF woe, by forcing me to log in again after EVERY post, so I'd rather be annoyed by IE's Facebook prod).

P.S. I've added ECF to the "blocked" list on Facebook. What I want is to get rid of the prompt here each time I post to a thread.

That's odd, I use FF almost exclusively, and I don't have that problem. Wish I could be more help...

What are your cookie settings on FF?

I'm in the process of changing cookie control now. I've got IE working pretty good this morning, so I haven't cranked up FF yet. Until now, I've blocked all cookies, even session cookies, and use supplemental programs to make sure none get through. Yes, that is likely a problem. I'm now relaxing cookie control for this specific site. We'll see if it works.

P.S. The Facebook prompt now flashes and disappears but I have Facebook set to block any report from ECF, so my posts here are not appearing there.
