I would avoid that jig and punch. You can't easily gauge your depth/hole size. With that being said I've been using the jig punch for months now and want to try that other contraption

problem with most punches that use a knob is if the point of the punch is not sharp it will deform your carto and/or twist.

with a jig there is a possibility of going too far in and hit the center tube but that's easily avoidable. just don't bang on it like an ape.
besides if it's setup right you should have problems...

out of the two choices, I prefer the jig.

DD is fine thanks .. you know how kids bounce back. She is already off to school, I am just waiting for the PO to open, then have to drive down to my folks' place for the day.

I don't know if the point got pushed in on my punch, got dull or what but mine got to where it wouldn't even put a hole in the carto. I had to drill it out a little so it would go deeper. I see it is now sold with a different punch, which might be better. Another problem is punching cartos with any kind of collar, it really limits where you can put it(looks like that other one isn't any better) I remedied this by drilling more holes.

My jig set seems to deform the carto as well, i may need to sharpen my punch
