I would avoid that jig and punch. You can't easily gauge your depth/hole size. With that being said I've been using the jig punch for months now and want to try that other contraption

problem with most punches that use a knob is if the point of the punch is not sharp it will deform your carto and/or twist.
with a jig there is a possibility of going too far in and hit the center tube but that's easily avoidable. just don't bang on it like an ape.
besides if it's setup right you should have problems...
out of the two choices, I prefer the jig.
