Aw....I'm a little bummed that nobody zombified themselves. I was looking forward to seeing everybody as their zombie selves!
So, I'm at war with my minxy. The 16340's are all a little long and push against the mod. This creates enough space that the door falls off. I tried getting shorter
batteries by getting flat tops, but they are too short and don't make contact. Someone mentioned using magnetic spacers, but they all look too thick. A washer might work, but I'm not sure that's safe.
I had mentioned this to Mamu when I was asking her about fixing the cracks, and she suggested taping the door. I'm not really happy with that solution, it seems tacky (puny). My other thought is to put a magnet in the door at the top to hold it in place. It will have to be recessed, which mean drilling into the mod somehow. Any suggestions from you crafty types here?
The other thing I tried yesterday, was to flatten out the contacts for the
batteries a little, but all this accomplished was to leave marks in the wood, even though I was careful to pad the tool with cloth. It's not a big deal. I can sand down a couple of the spots and restain them. There's now a very small dent on the outside, which bothers my perfectionist self.
One worry I have about the solution of adding a magnet to keep the door on, is that the strain on the wood from the pressure of the batteries will eventually put more cracks in it. The grain of the wood is such that it is in the same direction as the force of the pull.
I'm sad about my beloved Minxy and how to fix her.
