Reid, not the Oil Embargo of the 70s. I remember that one. We use to have to get gas either on odd days or even days, depending on our license plates. My daughter was a baby then and I use to have to pack her up and wait in line for gas on the odd days. It was a pain in the .....

"Gas wars" were neighboring gas stations lowering their prices so they would have the lowest price per gallon and get all the customers.

CRAP !!!!!............... I remember all of it and had a lot of it.

My first job was at A & W. My first car (a VW, I was destined to be a Dead Head ), I put a 8 track in.

Yep yep !!! I think it was about 32¢ a gal when I started driving.

Sorry, "Gas wars was before my time I think". 8-tracks on the other hand....
My Camaro had an 8-track player, as did our boat. I think I still have the 8-track of the Eagles "Hotel California" at Mom's somewhere.

Gas was 25 cents a gallon when I started driving. I also remember bread and eggs at 35 cents when I first got married.

And there was a drive-in not far from our house. A group of us would take our pick-up trucks (Dad's in my case) and our dates to the drive-in, park backwards as close to each to each other as possible, pull out the lounge chairs and coolers and enjoy the movies and socializing.

No. Much too public. We'd hop from bed to bed (that's truck-bed; gutter, mind, out!) at the drive-in. There were other places for more private goings-on, lol.

In the summer, if I got lucky, Dad would let us borrow the boat and we'd all head to the lake. Kid Rock really hit the nail on the head, lol:


Exept it was 79, not 89 and our girls didn't pole dance, lol.

My mom quit smoking when cigs went to 25 cents a pack ... I remember that. LOL
And my brother used to stir the color in the margarine ... that was about 6 yrs before me I think.

LOL -- Thanks for that trip down memory lane. I LOVED Dino gas, because you got a free dinosaur soap with a prize in the middle with a fill-up. I don't know how many times I saw sister sitting under that hair dryer lol. And those little triangle bands we made out of gum wrappers -- why did we waste so much time making those stupid things?


Good Morning Trippy Nation! Looks like I am laid up for the weekend. I shall lay around and make blankets for the cats in the adoption center at Humane Society so their cages are coordinated. I seem to have strained my left achilles tendon and it is giving me fits so no adoptions today!
