My DD loves the bus .... her friends are on there also at the moment. That will only last 4 more years ....

He refuses to take the bus. LOL. When I tell him he has to, he will choose to get up at 6 am and walk three miles to the school in the freezing cold instead. I've tried everything else! His video games are gone, TV is gone, family room privileges are gone, phone and computer are gone, no friend allowed over, no going anywhere and still he has 20 missing assignments from the last 2 months! It's annoying because I know he's capable. He got straight A's last semester because there were video games coming out that he really wanted and I told him I would buy every one of them for him if he got straight A's. And he did and I bought them. But there's nothing he wants now and I'm tired of bribing him. He's almost 17, time to grow up!
OHHH....well if they still wanted to do that, we'd have to have a chat concerning career choices
I tutor at the middle school on Weds and Fris, and I had visions of shiny faced kids saying "Oh yes Mrs Bellmont, please help us with our math!" ...... it has turned out to be a place to send the kids that aren't turning in their work on time. More of a punishment, and the kids don't need my help, they just need to be babysat, and someone to make sure they are actually DOING their work.

I hear that. I took in my teenager (brother-in-law) after his dad passed a couple of years back, so I don't really know if he used to do his homework or not. I tried babysitting him for the first year. Every night when I got home from work the books came into the living room with me and the TVs were all turned off. He would sit and do the homework with me, and NOT TURN IT IN! Really? It's done and he'll fail because he couldn't make the effort to just hand it over? I'm sorry, but kids these days have no discipline. And I'll tell you why: Parents are no longer allowed to put the fear of god into their children like they used to because someone will call DHS and say you are beating your kids because they got a spanking.

I'm not a parent but these days it seems like its the whole "Damned if you do..... Damned if you don't" mentality.
Take everything away and deprive them of this or that in order to get your end result and they begin to rebel even more, which has always been the case though in the past you could use corporal punishment to correct this behavior, but if you use psychical punishment these days you either get in trouble with DHS or the child grows up to blame every disorder imaginable on you and seek out a psychologist to whine to through out their young adult lives (recently watched a show were a woman needed to see her psychologist but a young girl was in there so she walked up to the girl and said "I'm going to save you a lot of money, it's all mommy and daddies fault" and the girl began to sulk as she walked out of the office lmao).... But give into them too much and they become complacent, less goal oriented and lazy, which often times results in these youths lack of interest in higher education, and possibly dropping out of high school.... then by their own decisions and actions they pigeonhole themselves into jobs they detest and mediocre pay, though many (but not all) still find a way to blame it all on mommy and daddy lol

I tell my daughter "you're buckin' for your daily ... beatin'!" LOL She still has the "Fear of Dad" in her .... at least for now.
When I was a kid, I wouldn't have dreamed of being that lazy for fear of honest physical harm from my parents, which I now thank them for. LOL. They never really hit me, but they sure made me believe they would.

Hey guys. I've been seeing these trippy tips everywhere and would like to get my hands on one. Is this similar to the lavatanks deal, where you have to wait until a sale is announced? Whenever I check the site everything is sold out or nothing is posted. How am I supposed to know when a new batch arrives on the site for sale?
