Sedge - DD likes to slice it thin, and saute it in a fry pan with whatever sauce .... she cooks it pretty well, then has it with Udon noodles. That cooks it enough doesn't it?
I am pretty sure it not "raw" if bean curd could be raw, but she doesn't roast it or anything. She likes to cook it on her own and hates when I hover ...... no worries, right?
Tofu is not a raw product. To make tofu, you have to cook soybeans first, then you add a coagulant then put them in a press and keep the curd and use the whey for other things. It is safe to eat right out of the carton, but not that appealing.

By roasting it first as I suggested, it holds up better in stir fry and has a better flavor.

I love tofu. It reminds me of paneer or cheese curds, and is largely a vessel for many a delicious sauce.

My mom used to make an eggless quiche with tofu and I loved it, but she can't remember how to make it, it's been so long, and we can't find the recipe.

Blu, tell DD to use Shirataki noodles. They are made from tofu and are virtually carb free and zero calories. They taste awesome in Stir Fry or in italian dishes.Shirataki noodles - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

All my local supermarkets carry them by the tofu.

Beware, they smell out of the bag, but that is the fermentation water they are stored in. Just rinse them off and no odor whatsoever. They absorb whatever sauce flavor you use them in.

kataan ... DD will eat eggs ... "they haven't had eyes" or something like that .....

She eats a lot of egg whites since hubby gets those for his low-cholesterol diet.

Sedge - been there and done that on the Shirataki ... the texture is a not go for us. I used them for carb-free, and if you can over the fish smell, they are a bit too chewy for me. DD couldn't get over the fish smell. LOL

Main. I love bulgoki and most all Korean food. There was a place that made these really thin savory scallion pancakes with a dipping sauce and I have never been able to find them again. Forgot what they were called so I could find a recipe.

Yuckamandoo? (spelling)

Hi everyone.

Sedge - I guess DD basically dry-fries it .... as long as there is no harm, I'll let her keep doing what she's doing. She eats it and says it's good.

I think it is wonderful that she is cooking. I started really young. Guess I was destined to be a chef. Does she watch the Food channel?

Wait till she cracks open an egg with a fetus in it. It happens every now and then.

Sedge - or just a bloody yolk? LMAO

She gets her eggs by turning the caps and tilting the little carton. LOL
I used to get dozens of eggs, but then no one wanted yolks, so now hubby and DD buy their own. :glare:
I still love me a good OE or poached egg on rye toast ... all that yummy yolk to dunk in ..... (thank god for estrogen protection!)

OE, poached soft or soft boiled are my favs. Gotta dunk the yolk. Sera just doesn't get it. I like a runny yolk on a steak or a burger too.
