Good morning Trippies! Been on vacation, and kept my promise to my wife to stay off line. Well, what a mistake! For the first time since coming to Trippyville, I cannot catch up. So, I just scanned for pix, drooled, and now on to the future. Hope I didn't miss anything important, and pray that all is right with THIS part of the universe!

Good! morning guys...I'm here for a second, catching up. I need to get my mod 101 and such :D soooo many awesome looking ones out there.

It was fun last night sharing some of Chihuly's work. Thanks for bringing him up Wharf.

Seraphina~ that gallery looks like a modern sculpture all in itself! specially with that Chihuly on the window. My educated guess is that the smaller pieces and chandeliers are being made in his style and not by his team. That soft transparent pastel hues is very hard to get in our glass, not impossible...but hard. Still dreaming here...

The dreamcatcher is Huge! made out of 3 12" rings. It took me a good while to make that guy!

ok, off to catch up some more and get my torch groove on, it's been a while!

WOO HOO! I finally chased down the end of this thread! I hope you all are having a great day so far...the VK order is shipping out today, and we are hoping to get the Dragonfly order out Monday.

Matt, Beata, and I had a great time at the lake yesterday. We didn't find any Turquoise, but it's probably because we didn't really know what raw turquoise looks like not because it isn't out there LOL! Turquoise lake is located in Leadville, CO the HIGHEST city in the USA! I definitely recommend going there if you have the chance.

So anyone have a Steam Machine ??? and is anyone using the Phoenix RBA Atty's ??

Haven't tried the former, though I'm curious about it. I have one of the "Phoenix" style attys and it's not too bad. I need to re-build it, though, my flavor isn't quite what it should be with the stock pre-build setup. I've just been too busy experimenting with GTUS and Ody builds lately to get around to seriously playing with that one ;-)

Speaking of rebuildables, Blu I've been trying out the threadstick thing I mentioned to you a while back and it's been working great in my GTUS. I'm not sure how it would perform in a bottom-tank genesis, but it makes a world of difference with a top-tank

Morning All :)

Quick question for the ss mesh users... How wide of a piece do you use? Going to make my 1st mesh wick today & thought I'd better ask instead of just winging it lol

That depends on the device you're making the wick for. I know there's some variation between different styles of genesis attys.

i have a question too. how long does a kick last? forever?

I think the warranty is either 60 or 90 days, but they should last a heck of a lot longer than that ;-) I've had mine since the first release and it's still going strong. It hasn't been in constant use, but it has been used quite a bit in that time

Evening, Tripsters! Just caught up for today, now gonna troll around the forum for a few and then it's off to an early dinner (gf's craving chinese buffet and we want to beat the dinner rush)

I also wanted to share a story from last night. I am working on a very complex TrippyTip for Seraphina, and have many hours invested in it. It is going to be a donut with a hummingbird sculpture attached to the outside. Since the hummingbird is a fragile creature and even more delicate as a glass sculpture there will be a clear bubble of glass around it to protect it from harm's way.

It is never easy to do something new, and beat your own path through life, but when all is said and done I believe it will be worth it to be able to say that I have created something beautiful that nobody else has ever done. Last night I was finishing Sera's piece, and it was beautiful. I really poured my heart and soul into the creation of very small details and was very excited to share it with you all. As I attached the bubble long story short the piece went south and ended up having to swim in a bucket of water. I was literally heart broken.

At first I felt like I had bitten off more than I could chew, and was really regretting this whole custom ordering idea, but then I felt inspired from the destruction. I came out of the whole experience motivated to make an even more beautiful version of the TrippyTip. The way I see it is that now I know what worked, and I also have the knowledge of what not to do.

The reason I wanted to share this with you all is because of how I believe this relates to all things in life. Please do as Freddy says, and make today beautiful for yourself. I could have still been angry at the whole experience and having a bad day, week, month, year, or life if I held on to the emotions attached to the moments of destruction involved with glassblowing. Instead of doing this when something goes wrong I have learned to turn it around, make life beautiful, and look at it as an opportunity to do things better next time.

Sorry to get all philosophical on you! Just wanted to share.
~Bert
