I want to start a conversation about custom orders. I'll start by apologizing for how long they are taking. I am sorry to those waiting on them. We never meant to let you down, mislead you about the time it would take, or frustrate you in any way.
Freddy and I had a chat, and while good things take time, nobody realized it would be this much time. I just want to open the door for discussion here to collect suggestions on how we can make things go smoother in the future. Some suggestions that Freddy made included

Skype-ing before we start or during the creation process
Preview pictures that come up as you place your order
Create ways for people to more clearly express exactly what they are looking for to reduce the number of customs that get re-made

If you are still waiting on a custom please express your feelings to us. If you have more suggestions on how we can better handle custom orders in the future please share that too. I will be checking back in as work permits today. We will continue to do our best at getting these made, and with your suggestions it will hopefully happen more smoothly/quickly.

I think a skype conversation or even just a phone call would probably help you guys keep from having do overs alot! Sending A quick doodle of what you have in mind before you start might also be good. I usually do that with my custom jewelry orders and it seems to work! And for those of us who have been collecting for a year or better now, the wait isn't so bad. We know the amount of time and thought you guys put into these and faster turn around time is not worth sacrificing that for. You haven't let anyone down.

I've been waiting on this assistance program to help mom move back home for months now and everytime I call and ask when they say they dont know when. Well they just called me and said she's moving home in FOUR DAYS! I think a little more notice should have been in order here. That means I have four days to get her wheelchair ramp built, her hand rails installed, her lunch service to come, her meds set up, a lift chair so she has somewhere to sit, her life alert installed and figure out how to use this crazy medminder thingy. Looks like I'm def stuck close to home for the weekend now. Dangit.

I did run home to get her credit card to at least get things ordered today and wound up meeting the mail man on the doorstep though. Trippy mail!!!!! My dragon is so tiny. It's a baby dragon. :)

Oh Amberkins - I can't wait to see it! Me LOVES tiny! :wub:

From a business perspective......I'd stop offering custom Trippy's until you have either grown to a point where a single artisan can concentrate on specifically "custom" work.... OR your business has grown to where the production volume allows all the artisans time to concentrate on a custom Trippy.
I suggest this because of how and maybe more importantly, why an artisan creates. You guys start blowing glass with an idea of where your going.....but mood...materials...an impurity...music....a kabillion different factors....can change the dynamics, the process...hence the outcome. It's why it's called art, a collection, and not cookie cut pattern output.
Currently you guys struggle to make enough Trippy's to pay the light bill and at the same time find time to create the customs....I'll wager your all very tired and a wee bit stressed. None of you guys are wired to make stuff by the numbers.....your wired to be creative.....imaginative....to do the "what if I tried this....." and out pops individual perspectives, each one unique.

So if your going to offer customs, I suggest, stick to just colour...style...and size.... and step away from....accepting orders for a Giraffe necking with an Elephant........until you and your business provides the luxury of time, so you can box yourself into making MY tip.

I think Kami's suggestion is good. I saw this happen when Bert first started doing Trippys - He got so busy with customs he had to shut it down. It was months before he was able to do batches of trippys for sale.

Edit - I also like Deli's susggestion about letting us know where on the custom list we are.

DH told me yesterday he was going to steal my Freddy orb for a shooter marble. I'd KILL him! Lol! DEAD!

:laugh: My hubby likes to tease me about my Trippies too! Whenever I get a new one he mocks me in a high pitch voice

"TRIPPEEEEE TIPEEEEEE, TRRRRRIPPPPEEEEE TIPPPPEEEEEE" :facepalm: & sometimes he'll come a dustin my side table which alarms me for my TrippyTippeeees! And he starts again..."TRIPPEEEEE TIPEEEEEE, TRRRRRIPPPPEEEEE TIPPPPEEEEEE" Ya, I don't even like him near them, the big ox! :glare: :lol:

The other night I was in doing the dishes and when I came back my mod was sitting on a different spot on the table than it was when I left. I looked closer and my trippy was missing! I looked at my hubby and he got all wide eyed and said "I didnt do it I didnt do it I didnt do it!" Very calmy I said, "Where's my tip?" "I didnt do it I didnt do it I didnt do it" I say, "You broke it didn't you?" At this point I thought he was going to hyperventilate, Im sure I had a hell of a look on my face. The tip was sitting behind the box unharmed. You should have heard the sigh of relief he let out when I said it was ok! LOL!

Amber.........not fair!!! I didn't get my Trippy's today :( Unless they are doing two drops like the sometimes do around Christmas.

Bert.......you all have done an amazing job on the custom orders. I agree that maybe a phone call would be helpful and emails with a rough sketch if possible.

Done with the room, even cleaned mine today!

silent....love that little homeycomb :)
