Hey all you RBA/ihybrid/Gennie lovers!
Well it seems I have a dilemma that I hope one or several of my TrippyKin can help out with regarding RBAs or perhaps Hybrids. I've been a REO guy for 2 of my 2.5 years
vaping but I continue to be searching for the flavor I want. The HH.357 was from time to time close but it was very inconsistent. I also couldn't tolerate the price. I have since purchased a couple ERAs and Hornets but find those to be leaky and I'm also debating how well they REALLY work without regulated power. My REO 3.7V PVs with ERAs/Hornets are hit-n-miss in the flavor department. I also have to wrap them with different wire and less wraps to get a satisfying vape when compared to my regulated VV REO Grand. On the VV Grand, the ERA is nigh perfect and I find the coil and wicks to last for every bit of a month. The 3.7V setups might last a week or two tops and flavor drops of fairly quickly (~ 1 week). I'm using 32AWG or 30AWG Kanthal A-1 with 2mm or 3mm silica wick. I'm fairly certain that my wrapping skills are adequate and all of my wicks and coils are setup identically except for the resistance factor. The flavor and vapor on the regulated mods is what I'm trying to replicate in my "go to" 3.7V devices but I'm considering other RBAs or platforms for my "go to" option. I really haven't wanted to go with a VV Grand for out and about in that my days away from the house often go 10-12 hours and I'd prefer not to change battery pairs until I get back home. I do carry a spare 18650 battery and a 510 atty for the Grand everywhere it goes. A REO mini 14500 also accompanies for total Grand loss or meltdown. But the VV Grand is not a small mod and these days the
vaping environment around Indy is getting more and more restrictive. Stealthy size and appearence is important but vape time is still an issue. The Code Enforcement Nazis are scaring the pub, club and restaurateurs to make vapers go outside. A Mini REO 2.0 (18500) with regulated wattage or voltage might be the ideal platform but the ERA/Hornet still leaks due to the cap air hole and I also question if the RBA on any REO is the best flavor one can have in ANY platform?
So I have the following questions to resolve and trust the folks here with having a good amount of experience and trustworthy advise:
Is there a better REO-compatible RBA out there regardless of price high (e.g. MB Chalice) or low (e.g. A7/Surface)?
Has anyone who has tried the REO with an RBA also using a Genesis or iHybrid that feels the flavor is worlds better that the REO/RBA or HH.357 ideal operation? I really like the idea of Bert's capillary glass feed rods and wonder if that might be a much healthier alternative to Kanthal and silica.
I am contemplating getting a Provari mini as a platform for using a top-fed Hornet with a staionary coil and easily-replaceable wick setup to serve as a
e-liquid test tasting solution. Are there Genesis style atties that might offer a better solution to my search using the Provari as a base?
I'm very sensitive to carto-induced taste so atty tanks are not going to be my thing. I really can't stand anything but Silica in my RBAs because of dulling flavor and poly/cotton fill taste. Are there any atty tanks that might make a better alternative.
So any advice offered will be greatly appreciated. I typically change flavors 3 - 4 times a day so multiple devices have always been my solution( i.e. Lazy). Coffees in the AM with my coffee, fruity sweet vapes through the day and cocktail flavored e-liquids at night like Mojitos or other tropical cocktails (e.g. Planters Punch, Hurricane, Rum Runner, etc). I would go to the respective forums for any of these devices but most are filled with fanboys and girls who don't look at technologies with a objective eye. I find the folks here do so I apologize in advance if I'm spamming this thread with non Trippy posts. On that note, the device would have to be Trippy-frienndly or that too would likely take it out of contention. Thanks in advance for all your help. Brew
