No real help, and I found public school only made things worse. I will never forget what his teacher told me, that his real problem was my failure to accept the limits of his disability. It was unfair to him to expect him to succeed in a regular classroom.

This fall, my Aspie not only started college, but got on a plane. Maybe that doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's a long way from the little kid banging his head into the wall, that I had to gently remove from the corner of the cloak room at the end of each school day.

And his humor only got him punched once that I know if.

I'm glad he didn't get punched a lot. I did.
But then I hit 6'6 220lbs. Lol.

And in 2010 I flew for the first time. Second.
Calgary in '97, Dallas in '10.
I...... do not fly well. So, I get it.
My wife works with autistic kids.
I could try to get some info for you if you like?
Assistance maybe?
(I was a real jerk the other day, I really acted badly, I don't know how to fix it)
(But I'll try)

Thanks, but I think we're OK here, at least with my son. He still hasn't managed to get his first job, but I connected him the Rehab Services with the state, and they should be able to help him with things like mock job interviews. It'll happen eventually, I think, and patience has been key requirement in being his parent.

Now my daughter, who is not only ADD, but a teenage girl is another story. Compared to her, having a son with autism is a walk in the park. If I remember my own adolescence, she should be fully human again by the time she's 19-20 years old.

Women are unique, and I think, more in tune with their minds.
That's a good thing, also very challenging in our society.
Toss in adhd and the autism spectrum, the challenge is even greater.
We are too negative and harsh (I think)
And women are creators and givers.
(I mean this with all respect. )
I think our standards and greed poison all of us. But women? With one hand we push them down and point out flaws and failures we created.
With the other hand we beg for nurturing and companionship.
It sickens me.
And I'm as guilty as anyone.

I guess my point is..... I think it's hard to have aspergers.
I can't imagine being a woman with it.

I love the cooler weather, too. And I did not like this summer. I can't remember a summer that was as humid. It should be miserable when it's only 82 degrees.

School is not great. I definitely can't take two classes while having learning disabled kids doing school at home. One I had to drop, but it's starting again soon, so I'll try it again. The other one's fine, but it wasn't the one I was as interested in.

EDIT: Should NOT be miserable at 82 degrees.
Hang in there.

Was someone throwing tomatoes at me again?
I'll stop with the bad humor.
    (I won't you know. ... )
Funny how us "aspies" use humor so often.
I tell myself " I Joke about Things because if something is funny or can't hurt me."
Then the subject in question punches me and takes my milk money.
yeah I know all about spitting out bad humor. I also know I will never stop :w00t:
Your humor is not bad though. You make me laugh lots.

He's lucky ---- I have been busted up quite a few times for my dumb joking. Not in awhile though because I grew too big and not a whole lot of people these days dare to punch me.

Never banged my head against the wall? I used to hit myself though when I got excited, does that count?

I suppose it might. Was that an accident, too? :)

Turns out, banging his head had less to do with autism than having an evil, shaming teacher.

    lol -- no not intentional

I think it is part of my autism? I realize it sounds rather "strange" but when I would get excited about something then in an uncontrolled manner I would start hitting myself (not hard) --- I was told awhile ago (can't remember from who) that some autistic folks have that trait. Hey, I have given up long ago about keeping strange personal secrets on here. Especially when dealing with croakers. If a person keeps things hid then they cannot effectively help you.

Too bad about your Son and those evil teachers. Yeah, I had a gut full of them myself.

Side note to those saying don't trust people under thirty. I raise my middle finger to that. I have been screwed far worse by people over 50 than by any twenty year old. Repeatedly.

    People are people.
    Age does not define anyone.
I was really just making a joke.
I like anyone who tries to be a good person!

    Yes.
I had one or two teachers like that also.
    Lovely. ....
Although, I had a few wonderful teachers too.
I tend to remember the Good ones more.
Just don't let the negative attention your child may receive stick.
That is something I try to work on everyday.
Shame and self doubt weigh far too heavy.
We need to wash away that junk right away.
