Can we discuss this?

Because I keep finding myself very attracted to the Provari. . . but very hesitant about batteries.

I have an istick 30w. I like it, I love the pass through. I love not needing a special charger for it. It does it's job. but I hate the idea that when the battery eventually dies, I have to replace the whole mod. It's my first and only "upgrade" from my ego. And until recently I've been okay with it.

But I'm really starting to wonder if I'd be better with something like a provari where I'm just going to swap out the batteries.

But I'm super worried (yay anxiety making the worst case out of things) about battery safety and venting and charging and shorting and I've seen the horror stories. ;)

I actually have a provari from 3 years ago, but it's the large version and it was expensive. I like my VAMO better. But, people were saying that this "mini" one is fairly inexpensive. As for the battery safety, I only charge them when I'm home so if something were to happen, I could yank it out of the wall. I love having the batteries, and think about it this way, it's safer than the ego because the battery is encased in metal.

On battery safety. As long as you buy good batteries and use them in a regulated device such as a Provari. And charge the batteries in a good charger, you should have virtually ZERO problems with venting, explosions, super Nova's, etc
On the other hand if you buy cheap batteries and or use a SMPL type $10 clone mech mod, you are MUCH more likely to have problems.

Yeah, I started reading about battery safety and all that.

And then I looked at the cost of a provari on their website. OUCH.

Perhaps if I were planning on vaping for 2+ years that would be a worthwhile investment, but as is, I'm hoping to quit vaping in early 2016, so probably not worth the $$. More worth it to just replace the istick if it kills over in that time.

Depending on your vaping habits there are many more options for replaceable battery regulated devices out there.
I got a Sigeli Zmax V3 for 9.99 on clearance. Only goes up to 15 watts which is fine for me now.
Need more watts there is also the Evic VTC Mini and many others.

Yes, I've been vaping about 3 years now and have never had a super nova.

The only battery that ever caused a fire that I witnessed, was in the server room at a school I was working at as a campus tech. It was a huge APC UPS battery and there was smoke billowing out from under the server/switch room. I had to run in with the Science Teacher's fire gloves and yank the cord out of the wall while the maintenance guy used the fire extinguisher to put the fire out. We had a school full of junior high kids and it couldn't wait for the fire department. That thing melted all the cords that were plugged into it, and we lost 3 hub/switches that networked 10 classrooms. Scary.
