So Cal
jruss91 Do you have an eta on the Aspire 5ml tank or a link? I don't like the 8ml tank, so out of proportion with the 22mm base!

Darryl Licht How did your 1st rebuild go? The wicking material Aspire use is some kind of 'ceramic filler' like cloth, not silica which is well known and fine to use.
I just rebuilt the very first coil from mine as I disliked the muted and strange flavor of my regular juice produced by it. 100% easy and effective using organic cotton pad and coil clean up. I think though, that I still prefer my rda's and rta's all told. The Atlantis is amazing for what it is and does:vapor:

Oh, I have been playing a lot... I built a .8 ohm coil last night and rewickd it with flat Japanese cotton... too restricted the 1st 2 times. Ruined that coil of the 3rd try and ended up rewicking a stock coil, it worked great for the high vg juice I like. Better flavors for sure, it was like resampling some flavs for the first time!

Got a few bottles today from NicoTicket... (Crème Brule, Custards Last Stand both 50/50, and Betelgeuse 65/35) too much PG for that build... gurgled and spit. So, unless they offer CLS or CB in high vg no more Nicoticket. But I love the flavor, before I burnt my wick.

Hey there ladies and gents,

My set up is currently a Cloupor T6 with an Aspire Atlantis.
I just bought Cuttwood's Unicorn Milk a few days back and Im getting "dry hits" when my coil isnt hot enough.
I change to a new coil whenever I change eliquids.
This is the first time Im getting initial dry hits from the Atlantis and previously my eliquids are menthol based.
I am vaping the Unicorn Milk at 23watts.. Only after the coil heats up, my vape will be a smooth one..

Am I doing something wrong here or is it just the nature of Unicorn Milk to be like that?
Also Im getting a faint strawberry flavour and a more distinct cream/milk taste.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Are you seeing air bubbles? When I was getting dry hits on my Atlantis. Very few air bubbles were coming up, I had to prime almost every pull to see any air bubble activity. I wasn't expecting to see bubbles on every pull but almost no bubbles after several pulls along with dry hits. Those three coils lasted maybe 1 day each before I chucked them, several different brands of Juice all was 50/50.

As I recall I had to turn Unicorn Milk down to 15-20 watts or I got the same.

  • Do you prime the coils before vaping? If so how, and for how long?
  • Have you taken apart any old coils to look inside? You might be surprised at all the burnt cotton.

Remember that UM is 70%VG and doesn't wick as well as thinner (higher PG) juices.

  • Also, What nic strength are you using in your Atlantis and what strength did you use before you switched to the Atlantis?

Same Q's as above... I'm getting 2-5 days per coil, but I like 80%VG!. But save them and rewick with cotton, or send them to me!

**fingers crossed now that i've turned the wattage down to 15watts.. let's see how this works now..

Yea I prime the coil with a few drops first and then put it all together, make a couple of dry pulls, and then leave it for 10 mins or so..

Before UM I was using a much sweeter fruity juice and my coil just gunked up after a day!
Yea Im getting 2-5 days per coil too..

I've used and 80% VG before this and had no such "problems"

All the while Im using a 6mg nic even before the Atlantis..

Yeap Im seeing air bubbles with dry pulls or even normal pulls..

Some flavors just burn at higher wattages. I run 70/30 VG/PG on my Atlantis @ 29W wtihout any burning. If you're running high VG juice, you can't do a slow draw on a higher airflow setting as the juice is thicker and won't get drawn into the coil. I'm learning all this now with the Atlantis and figure after my 1st 5pk of replacement coils I'll have is mastered :) On average I get 2-3 wks per coil.

Air bubbles are a good thing, it means the juice is wicking!

Most vape experts will tell you to cut your nic in half when moving to a sub ohm tank like the Atlantis, so that may be part of the issue too!

I accidentally ordered a 12mg (my former nic level) and all 3 bottles tasted like crap! That may be part of your issue too!

Ooh?!? cutting the nic level to half.. I learn something new everyday! Thanks!
Didnt know that it could be part of the issue...

Where Im getting them its either 6mg or 0mg nic.. I've tried a 0mg 100%VG juice and it tastes like crap.. or maybe its just me? LOL
