Aspire BDC colis crapping out on me

Hey everyone,

I have recently purchased some Aspire BDC 1.8ohm clearos and am running them on an EGO 1100mah battery. All good to start with but each coil is lasting a max 2 days and then completely dying. I have cleaned the 3 that have died so far, given them the blow treatment but they are completely dead and won't even burn after that. I'm only using pretty boring Dekang 70/30 tobacco flavoured flavoured juices and can't figure out why they are dying so quickly. I was having the same issue with vision 2.2ohm clearo's as well but at least got a bit longer out of those.

Any suggestions or answers would be very much appreciated

Cheers

One note the ego's really like to stay above 2 ohms. Aspire had and issue with quality control for a while you may have gotten some out of the many that are floating out there. I have not had that problem. I get 1-3 tanks our of them if i clean them good and dry fire them on low wattage. If you hit them with high wattage during a dry fire they may pop.

I've been using a non-Aspire BDC clearomizer for the past week. I soaked it for a bit to clean for the first time, and it didn't want to work after that; it fired, but wanted to alternate between burning and gurgling.

Being the genius I am, I kept taking it apart to see what I could figure out. I ended up finding the coils by accident and rendering them unusable, so it looks like I'll have my first rebuild project here soon.

You can find some youtube videos of the coils being rebuilt ("Aspire BDC rebuild"). It is apparently a common problem to get heads with stock coils that don't work so great. Perhaps you could watch a video to take yours apart and diagnose the problem (messy leads, gunky coils, something burnt). If you've got some dead ones laying around, it's worth a shot, right?

I had the burnt problem too...found this advice on worldofvape product page (haven't tried it yet because I just replaced the coil an hour ago:

How to prevent a burnt taste with bottom coil atomizers:

A burnt taste is mainly due to the eLiquid not wicking properly onto the coils. This is due to a too thick eLiquid (over 30% VG) and/or to a lack of air pressure inside the tank (too much vacuum). Bottom coil tanks are very influenced by the vacuum created in the tank when the eLiquid wicks onto the coils. To help solve the "burnt taste" issue of a bottom coil atomizer, simply blow gently into the mouth piece - you should see a couple of air bubbles coming from the hole of the coil head. This will rebalance the air pressure inside the tank and help the eLiquid wick properly onto the coils. This simple tip has proven to be very effective in helping get a fantastic vape with bottom coil atomizers.

I was experiencing the same problem with the same coils- difference being I was able to rinse mine with hot tap water, and then dry-burn the crap out of them till the coil on the top (only one I could see) glowed brightly.

You probably won't want to hear this...but it got me frustrated enough that I started rebuilding...vaping a Kayfun 3.1 and Taifun GT clone for a smidge over two weeks. To me, night and day...I'm very happy. Enough so I'm selling my clearos (except for one-emergency use).

A guy at a local vape shop told me the same as you were told above; there were some serious QC issues with the Aspire coils for a time.

I'm truly sorry for you- hope you get it worked out...very frustrating when the vape don't...vape.
