Aspire Nautalis coils

Is it just me, or do Aspire Nautalis coils turn belly up and die in four or five days?

I have been starting them out at low wattage and increasing it gradually, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.

I've tried Rick Tripper's method of rebuilding them with pretty crappy results. They start out OK but expire in short order. You'll notice he rebuilds a new coil where you can actually see the notch you're supposed to set the coil in. (Why anyone would want to rebuild a new coil is beyond me.)

So does anyone have any advice to make these coils last longer, or knows where to buy them cheap? Do the coils in the Mini fit in the full-sized Nautalis? They're touted as being long lasting.

yes, the mini coils (bvc) work in the regular nautilus (bdc). I just recently started playing around with both, so cannot say how long my coils last. (the bdc one has about 3 tanks through it, the bvc about 2). I bought them since its easier than building a coil while traveling and it's easier to switch flavors compared to my kfl's

In the long run it's best to pay a little bit more for the BVC's vs the BDC's....why....the BVC's last so much longer then the BDC's. I'm getting 2 weeks on my BVC's before I clean them....plus I'm a chain vapor.

I find the BVC to be superior in pretty much every way - better flavour, lasts longer, and (curiously) cheaper (at my supplier).

About a week on a BDC seems to be about par for the course.

How accurate have ure aspire bdc/bvc coils been ohm wise?

i've had a 1.8 bdc read at 1.68, a 1.6 bdc read at 1.7, and a 1.6 bvc read at 1.78

Seems like it doesnt matter which ohm i get, seems pretty random (and yes all are authentic verified via serial number)

Aspire had some issues with some of the Nautilus heads. I guess because demand outweighed Quality Assurance at the time. You may have gotten a bad batch. I rebuild my coils and I do it because i hate to toss out stuff just for a few inches of coil and a few mm of wick. Also because I CAN. I even converted some to BVC's also known as the mini coil. They are easier to build like that than the dual cross type BDC.

I get 2 weeks out of my Aspire BDC coils and I pretty much chain vape all day.

I'd say on average I've been getting anywhere from 10-20ml of e-liquid through a Nautilus coil before it needs changed. I've had moderate success rebuilding them, but haven't noticed that I can get much more e-liquid through them.

I think the overall cheapest place to get replacement coils at the moment is Fasttech (About $7 for a five-pack) but they're not "real" Aspire coils, there's no telling what the quality (or lack of it) is like. And none of them have reviews yet, so I'd be leery of ordering those, except as a rebuilding platform.

My go-to spot for replacement coils continues to be Discount Vapers, $16 for a five pack, and they get your stuff out the door pretty fast.

What method do you use to clean them? I've tried soaking them in vodka overnight and letting them air-dry but they die pretty quick.

Just to see if I could clean a BVC Coil, I soaked my first one in pure (99%) isopropyl for a couple minutes, then soaked it in warm water for a couple minutes, then I rinsed it in hot water and then dried it out. I put it back in a day later and used it for 5 more days. I don't know if I'll do that many times, but it proved they can be cleaned and used again.

Stock ohms tend to vary. At least, they did with Kanger coils when I was using clearos.

Just to put things in some perspective....

If your vertical coils last 4 or 5 days... let's call it 4 days, that means you'll go through about 8 coils in a month.

A pack of five coils costs about $15.99, or, one post says he's found 'em at 10.95 for a pack of five. That's between $3.20 and $2.19 each.

Let's call it $3 (if you get 4 days on a coil, you'll actually use 7 and a half coils in a month, not 8, so let's just round it out to $3 per coil)

$3 x 8 - $24
Add in the cost of juice.... you're still way below $5-8 a pack for cigs....

The number of coils you're going to need in a month equals about the same cost as 4 packs of cigarettes! yea... you need a tank and battery device/mod, but those are one time expenses.

You also need juice, but that's relatively cheap.

Not meaning to bash or attack the original poster, just trying to put things in some perspective.

Overall, even at $4 a coil, it's still pretty cheap.

Oh... and the length of time most coils will last is related to what type of juice you use. Go with a clear juice, and I believe it'll last longer then the thicker juices... if I'm mistaken, anyone feel free to correct me.

I have only used 1.8 coils but so far they have read from 1.9 to 2.1 on my provari.
