Aspire Nautilus Mini AFC removal?

Figured I'd try to breathe some life back into this thing after I made the switch to rda's; but don't have access to a drill press. Does anyone know how to remove the AFC ring on these things? I've been told to look out for a spring and a bearing on removal, but I don't really care to go back to controlled regardless.

I think the base of the nautalis comes off. Supposedly you stick a tiny to small screwdriver between the AFC ring and the very bottom of the base and you can get it off. Only found one video on YouTube with vagueish directions on how to do it... But then I also saw a picture on reddit and the base does indeed come off.
