Hi guys,

Just wanted to bring to your attention that the drip tip on my nautilus Mini is rusting after 5 days of owning it. My friend bought a Mini as well and his is doing the exact same thing. The drip tip on my regular nautilus isn't doing this.

This is unacceptable on a commercial device meant to inhale something into your lungs as this is posing a health hazard. I already sent an e-mail to Aspire and am waiting for a reply.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up as this may happen with yours.

Aspire got back to me:

"Hello Pedro,
Thanks for supporting Aspire.
When you wash the drip tip,
Maybe there's still some water on it,
so it makes rust.
Thanks & Best Regards

I don't even know what to say to this, are they trying to fool me or something lol. This never happened to the dozen of tanks, rdas, and the 10 or so drip tips I own.

Slap a magnet on it and see if it sticks, if the magnet sticks you can be assured it is plain steel (possibly chromed).

Otherwise swap it out if you feel it is unsafe. I would just polish it regularly and go on with life, I doubt your going to inhale enough iron oxide if any to harm you, but I like to take risks like that. Call me Danger Dave.

EDIT: http://www.fastenal.com/web/en/75/magnetism-in-stainless-steel-fasteners
Seems my advice is bogus for the magnet, sorry.

He said he contacted Aspire, looking at their reply should answer any questions as to whether being a clone is the problem. In fact, might be better off with one.

I only have a passing interest in the Nautilus. No intention of buying into the newest fad, especially if they are NOT stainless, or of such low quality that they can rust. Up until this "new" coil came out they seamed to be plagued with problems. I tried one up against the Mega and other than holding more juice did not see any advantage and that is lost with the price of the new coils. You would think they at the very least could chrome plate brass like the cheapo KangerTechs.

They do look neat though :)

Take the mouth piece off stick a Q tip and stick it through the air channel. You can fill the mega all the way to threads.

I have 5 Nautilus tanks I've been using for about 6 months and my girlfriend has a Mini she's been using since they were released and we haven't had any rust issues. However, on 2 of them, the, "O-ring" slipped off when rinsing under hot running tap water.

Well, I thought I would check mine, been having a funny metallic taste since day one, and I've only had it for 5 days, however, I tend to chain vape, but it still shouldn't do this in my opinion. I looked down the drip in window light and sure enough there are black dots all in a ring about 1/4 inch down the tip. Yup, mine is genuine and came from World of Vape with all the seals and scratcher. I am disappointed and won't get another, sigh... I am not too thrilled with it anyway as it's too heavy for my arm, I have tendinitis/bursitis in my elbow and something developing since using this, just too heavy. It also has a sweet spot with the vacuum seal between 3/4 ml and 1 and 1/2 ml. Above or below either gurgles or poor vapor quality. Since switching the drip tip to another, I have much better flavor; metallic taste is gone.

Guys, forget the drip tip for a second, that can be replaced with another one of your choice. Have any of you taken your whole tank apart and soaked in 100% vodka over night? Do it and see what happens. I stopped using the nautilus a long time ago. The center post was all BLACK after a soaking of vodka over night. Had to scrape it off and still couldn't get all of it off. Also the metal of the inner tube had discoloration. I threw mine out quickly. If you think the glass tanks with metal sleeves made for the nautilus are any different, you would be wrong, same thing. By the way, 1-2 hours of soaking you won't notice a thing. Leave it soaked in vodka over night and see what happens.

Never had this problem any of the kanger mega's. They are made with food grade steel.

Sounds like a fake to me

No it's not a fake. Purchased from Sweet-vapes.com. Also checked out the the authenticity sticker and verified that it was legit. Purchased the second one from sun-vapers.com. Both did the same thing. Initially when I received the first one I only soaked it for 1 hour in vodka and then rinsed in hot water. Did the same for the second one. Then I decided to give both a deeper cleaning and that's when I noticed the black "oily" substance. After analyzing it I saw the center tube was all black and rusty looking inside.

Why not try it on yours, soak it in Vodka over night and see what happens. Please report back and let me know. Good luck

Given that they are the price of some small mods, this is just so unacceptable. these are expensive tanks given what they are!

I would contact your vendor and let them give you a store credit. The customer should never have to interface with the manufacturer if they didn't buy from there. The vendor/retailer should be refunding you, then also taking their concerns to the manufacturer.

It appears it is not just a matter of the drip tip rusting, but the center pole as well. Ugh. Double ug. I would not vape on something like that.
