At my wit's end with Joye 510 Atomizers

Hello everyone,

I'm a new e-cigarette user who's been vaping for a couple weeks now. I recently bought two new Joye 510s and decided I would clean them after 2 days use. I followed maintenance guides to the letter by doing the following:

Allowed the atomizers to soak in 70% Isopropyl Alcohol for 10 to 15 minutes. Then, I rinsed them by swirling them around in a cup of warm water. I then used a hairdryer on a medium setting to dry them thoroughly.

Afterward, the atomizers barely work, barely produce vapor and it feels like I'm smoking air. I cannot feel anything in my mouth and throat. They are THOROUGHLY dry (left to dry for over 24 hours after the maintenance process). I have made SURE they are not flooded, and yes I have primed them with a drop or two of e-liquid. The cartridges are fully topped off, but still nothing will seem to bring them back to life. I reiterate that these atomizers are only a few days old.

In my experience with 4 Joye 510 atomizers, they barely seem to last a week before vapor production dies off significantly and maintenance seems to be required. However, maintenance always ruins my atomizers for reasons I can't fathom. The batteries are fine, I have 4 of them and they're fully charged. I don't understand how this product and maintenance process doesn't work for me. I've spent close to 200 dollars on 4 e-cigarettes and juices and I've just thrown them all in the trash in frustration.

Can anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? I'm about to leave to buy some real cigarettes now. :(

A newly cleaned or purchased atomizer will sometimes need more than a couple drips onto the mesh of the atomizer. Try putting in a few more drops.
I have never had great success at the cleaning of an atomizer. I routinely blow them out and let them sit to drain overnight on a paper towel. I only do cleaning when they start to diminish.
I use pure grain alcohol and run it through a few times, until I get a steady stream flowing out the threaded end. I follow with distilled water to rinse and blow them out thoroughly then allow to sit overnight.

Good mornin. I'm sorry you're having such probs :(. Mine last an average of a month. I blow them out every couple days, and if I do clean them, it's with hot (preferrably distilled) hot water. I have never had luck with using the isoproyl (but if you do use it I'd go to 90% type). It seems the more I mess with the atty's the more problems I have. Good Luck

Welcome to ECF and Sorry to hear about your issues. I hope you really didn't chuck all your stuff. There is a learning curve and once you get it vaping can and will help you kick the cig habit. I also found standard resistence 510 atty's to be light on vapor with a normal 510 batt. I found that the LR atty's did the trick for me on eGo sized batts and that may be a path you want to try down the road. First thing is to find something that works for you now. I would pick up some Boge soft cap cartos. Fill them with about 1ml of liquid and vape away. If you have larger type batts then go with the LR 2.0 ohm ones. nhaler and Liberty Flights both carry them.

Hello everyone, and thanks for all your replies.

WomanOfHeart, I have tried your atty cleaning method to the letter and I'm happy to report that it resurrected my dead atomizers (well, at least the one I tried it with so far. :p) It almost behaves like new, I couldn't believe it! I can actually feel the vape in my mouth and throat now, and though I did go out and buy a pack of cigarettes, the vape is actually producing more of a smoking sensation and throat hit than the cigarettes themselves. I was seriously worried I invested in a bunk product but this method gives me new hope of saving money and my health. Thank you so much, and thanks to everyone who replied with their tips. :)

If your coil still burns orange, they still work. You may need to properly re-season them with e-juice and/or burn off remaining deposits with short interval dry burns. If they give off a lot of vapor after cleaning and drying, these are the deposits on the coil. There are some good videos on youtube that cover atomizer cleaning.

I didn't see this update before my last post. Congrats! (buy more attys, just in case)

Good looking out, WomanofHeart!

This is sort of annoying. Not your answer, but they fact that you should have different size batteries than the ones that came with the kit.

I don't care all that much at this point because the boge cartomizers work for me. But I hear so much about dripping and when I try I don't really get anything except the atty seems to get kinda hot.

Like some others have said, maybe some more juice is needed, I had a couple of 510 attys that weren't working so good, so I started messing around with them, first I pulled out the wicks, then I removed the bridges and on one the coil was right next to the plastic wall of the recession it sits in, once I moved it to the middle it worked a lot better, and am advantage of removing the bridge is you can see if anything is touching the coil, and when you hit the button you can see if the coil glows or not, plus I think they are easier to blow out without a bridge, of course this depends on whether you feel comfortable getting in there and fiddling around with all of those small parts.

That bridge with the metal mesh is what allows the atty to wick juice to the coil from the polyfill or bluefoam or whatever you might be using in a cartridge. Bridgeless is great for dripping but no longer useful for cartridges.

Maybe I should start a new thread, hate to hijack this one, but how do you know if your atty is working?

Without having a cartridge or drip tip on it, activate it on your battery or passthrough for 3 or 4 seconds. If the coil burns orange, it's still working. If there's no orange glow, but lots of vapor, it's still working but probably needs to be cleaned. Don't dry burn for more than 3 or 4 seconds and let it cool down in between dry burns or you might pop the atty. Then it's a dead soldier.

If you've never used it, it's a DOA arrival and most suppliers will replace them. It happens. Have you had it a while or did you receive it recently? If you just got it, contact your supplier and see what they'll do for you. If you've had it a while, explain that you've been using cartomizers exclusively and that's why you didn't catch the DOA right away. You've got nothing to lose by trying.

Scumsberg,

My story same as yours only three atomizers instead of four and have not gone out to buy that pack of cigarettes yet. I did try "My Atty Resurrection Method" cleaning method last night without much success. Did you take off the mesh, bridge or whatever in order to see the coil? Think that may be where I am going wrong as can not see the coil and am afraid I will pop the atomizer.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Toto,

No, I didn't remove the bridge or manipulate any of the internal components of the atomizer. I was able to see the orange glow without fiddling with anything.
