I have an awful metallic taste in my kayfun ehpro clone after trying to clean an old coil off with tap water. Ever since I did that everything I put in there tastes like chewed aluminum foil. I've soaked it in vodka, boiled it in distiller water 3 times, and nothing can get this damn taste out. Does anyone have any experience with a kayfun behaving this way? I love the kayfun when it performs properly but right now I can't even bear to vape it. Should I just get a new one? Please please help! Lol

Me? Not a problem here.. though some find it to taste funny when new and after doing a dry burn..

Just giving you a hard time. Some folks get an off taste with NiChrome, some with Kanthal. I don't have a taste issue with either one. I do prefer the NiChrome 80 over 60 or Kanthal because it isn't as springy when wrapping coils.

Back to the OP, some folks have used milk to soak the metallic flavor out. Never tried it so no first hand knowledge, just passing the info along.

Have you dry burnt it? Sometimes I'll get that if I dry burn it but don't do it long enough to clean the inside of the coil....

Yeah I always do. I've tried about 15 different coils, 3 different juices.. Lotta cotton, lil bit of cotton, mid range cotton.. 10 watts All the way up to 30 watts, same metallic taste. No idea what to do to remedy this.

I've never had it persist for all too long. I guess it's possible something (gunk build up) could have fallen down the air intake and gotten "trapped" in the void inside the base it's self, or the insulator to have picked up a taste. Might try pulling the center pin and giving it a good wash with hot water and soap... rinse it out very well and again with distilled water. I don't do a completer tear down often, but it would be what I would do in this case... also give you a chance to inspect everything thoroughly.

I would give it another good cleaning and maybe let it soak in rubbing alcohol for an hour or two. Depending on the metal it was made out of (no your higher end clones, but your fasttech cheap ones) may not be made out of the best quality materials. Also... Don't overlook the obvious, it may not be your atomizer. If you are you a metal drip tip with a cheap coating, that coating and metal drip tip will get hot and give you an off taste. I used aluminum anodized drip tip for a little while till I realized they were giving me that metallic taste I hated. I now use delrin tips only for many reasons, this being only one of them.
