I hate to say, you may need to rethink your game.
All Tobaco SS products are of the same stainless steel grade. Most China SS mod/topper products are of the same grade = to US/SUS 304's

I have 1/2 dozen Tobaco tanks and Drippers and sorry to say, none carry any noticeable taste of their own(To me)

I would suggest getting a lower cost original topper in 316 SS and try that out. Then, if all is well, you might try another Cheaper 304 ss piece to compare.
It seems you are sensitive to the metal composition. Not uncommon but most are never exposed to notice. I cannot stand the taste I get from anything aluminum.
Copper does not bother me, but I can clearly taste it.

*Note - double checked. 304, 316, 420, 430 are all Food Grade Stainless

someone said they used 2 full tanks before the flavor went away. im trying that now with a flavor I dont exactly like to get rid of the juice. I have just about depleated 2 tanks in that kayfun now. I have also heard that the kayfun mutes certain flavors like creamy and fruity flavors? weird. I put the flavor I dont like in my kayfun (pineapple) and for some reason that flavor I could not really taste any machine oil or metal. after I put the liquid in the 2nd time in that tank, the flavor was more pronounced and very noticeable. I put it in my protank to be sure and it was actually a little bit worse. so I am hoping tonight when I can clean it out I can put my favorite flavor in my kayfun and my protank and compare. hopefully it works. if not. guess ill sell it and buy a real kayfun or russian 91. its not worth the hassle. thanks for all the responses! im sure this will be a good post for anyone who is suffering from a similar issue.

I also noticed with my tobecco clone, the airflow controll adjustment piece was made of some weird metal that always had the smell of old metal. It was dirty looking and felt rough like a rusted surface, but it was not rusted. it was just the metal. anyway, I chucked it and noticed a decrease in that metal flavor I was getting. if I can, ill get some pics uploaded tonight.

I've got 5 original KFL+s and 2 BE clones. All of them work great ... except for 1 BE clone, purchased at the same time as the other, has the funky metallic taste. I've gone through the whole dismantling/cleaning/recoiling routine with it 3 times with no joy. It tastes like a short would in a genesis tank but there's no evidence of a short when I tried it on my ProVari.

Sure would like to know what it is.
