I'd never really paid attention until I read this post & one of mines just happens to be flashing right now. The other I change the battery on everyday before I leave for work so it rarely ever gets to flash. I've been vaping on the one that flashing on & off for about an hour since it started flashing but it's reading at 3.3. I use aw imr in mines as well.

My first time was tonight. I'd been checking it all day, and the last time I checked it was 3.4 -3.5. Then I was out, it was dark, and I didn't notice it flashing or anything, but I was busy talking to some people, so it may have. All of a sudden I tried to vape and nothing. I turned on the display and it had an error code.

I got it Wednesday, and was using the 18490 battery, after I'd fully charged it. So Wednesday night, all day Thursday, and almost all day today. Not bad I think. Plus I've been playing with the display a lot.

Man I'm lovin this thing. I saw a post earlier from a guy who was really excited about getting a Vamo V3. Good for him, I'm not knockin it or anything. My point is, that was me a few weeks ago. This whole vaping thing seems to be about discovery, and evolving. It's been a fun experience for me.

best regards, larry mac

Last night mine started flashing around 3.3 volts. After it turned itself off I put it in the charger and my charger said 3.25 volts.

From what I have read so far in this thread it doesn't seem like the flash/shutdown is real consistent [Edit: from one unit to another]. I wonder if the battery type has something to do with it?

Recheck Update:

Started Slow Blink: Provari read 3.3
Started Fast Blink: Provari read 3.3
While Still Fast Blinking: Provari would not turn on or measure battery Voltage
My Battery Charger Indicated Charge Level At The Very Low End Of Three Volts. (when first plugged in flashed 3.25 and immediately went to 3.00).

This second test seems to have repeated the first test. On the second test I tried to pay closer attention to the facts at hand. Hope this helps the OP and if your is still flashing at 3.7 I think you should call Provari and see what they think. My personal opinion is that it should not start blink with the battery at that high a level.

There is another thread in this forum were early blinking is discussed and to the best of my recollection a rigorous cleaning of contacts and the threads of the batter cap and tube cured everyone's problem. Yes - I know I have a little trouble with a universal cure but read thru it for yourself because it did seem to fix all the reported early blink problems.

Of course 18650's holds more amps than 18350's so it holds up better. A big factor is your atty resistance and if you chain vape. Low resistance atty builds draw more amps and chain vaping will drop battery voltage without allowing battery to recover. Once battery voltage drops to 3.3~3.4 volts, the Provari cutoff will kick in. That's why doing a battery pull gives the battery a chance to recover and gives you a few more draws.

Paul,

Here is a link here on ECF that discusses a similar problem and they seemed to come up with a repeatable solution:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/provari/397124-provari-constantly-flashing-depleted-battery.html

By the way you don't have to be in any big rush to replace the battery. If you go beyond a certain point it will auto-shutdown before the battery level goes below its lower limits.

PS - When I first read it I was skeptical but there are just too many people that found the suggested solution worked for them. After browsing all the posts in the thread I am a believer. Can't hurt to try their solution.

Yeah I actually read and replied in that thread too :vapor:. I guess I need to do it more often.

Sounds about right. Starts with the slow flash.(3.7).but I've never checked to diff. between slow & fast flash.
Seems a waste of batt juice at that point, when Im typically trying to grab one last vape and find batt. case/charger.

A day after my reply to you I began watching more closely. For me theres quite a difference based on which batt is in PV! Right now Im "slow flashing" w/AW 18500 @3.2v. Still firing & LO is "off". YMMV.

Ipster,

The part where you said 3.7. Volts is about normal for slow flash. That part I don't agree with. 3.7 Volts is on the not too low side of median charge range.

Anyway you said something in this post that I wanted to comment on. The button light set to off the extra power conservation should be so small as to be not even measureable in respect to vape time. The button LED is probably pulling 5 ~ 10 mA. So if you are using (for example) 4.0 volts and a coil at 2.5 Ohms for a total battery current draw of 1.6 Amps. With the LED on it would be a total draw on the battery of 1.610 Amp. The LED alone would need to be fired 160 times to account for one normal coil firings with the LED off. Anyway enough of that.

What you said about the Slow Flash starting at different points with different batteries. I made a post about that as a possibility but I didn't make it all that clear and someone replied about different ratings on batteries, well that was not the point I was trying to make. What I should have said is that depending on the age, usage level or how hard you are drawing on the battery i.e. the voltage you are applying to a particular coil. All of these things can effect the current state of the batteries internal resistance which I believe can significantly effect the voltage level the battery indictor starts to flash at.

In your post you didn't say what the other batteries types and "Usage Age" are. Are they all AW IMRs? If not that could explain the variations you are seeing. It is a very difficult thing to compare different batteries types and manufactures may all claim the same specs but that is not always a good indicator (maybe not totally truthful). (God this is getting confusing) But if you have some Batteries that Slow Flash at 3.2 ~ 3.3 you can bet your Provari is working just fine and the problem (or variation) you see with other batteries are the batteries themselves.

If this got too far out in left field just chalk it up to some whack-o and ignore it. I just get into "What is really going on" to the extreme.

Paul,

Are you saying you tried the "Super Wash" and it didn't help?

I'm not familiar with "super wash". Is that like soaking the whole thing in iso? I'm beginning to think it is actually the batteries. I can still vape til it dies which is around 3.2v to 3.4v but I'd rather not.

"Super Wash" was just being melodramatic. What I was really asking is have you done the Iso wash of all the contacts and threads especially the battery cap and tube end threads until they are whisper clean and then apply a new lite coat of Noalox?

Also you didn't mention if all your batteries are AS IMRs or a mix and match of different brands. I am not suggesting there is anything wrong with other brands even if ProVape seems to think so. I have never tried anything but the "AWs" so I don't know if ProVape is just suggesting the ones they have test and know to be good or maybe they found the "AWs" to be good and never really tested others.

Don't take this as Gospel but I would swear that I saw on the ProVape site something about not using Efest or Trustfire. But I have gone back a gazillion times and can not find that reference anywhere. I don't know maybe it was just a bad dream. - Ugh!

PS - I would swap the batteries at whatever level you are uncomfortable with. ProVape does make the claim that their unit auto-shuts off prior to going below a batter level that may harm the battery but they are not the ones that have to go to sleep worrying if they damaged their battery. I will also add that my shutdown happens at around 3.25 volts which I am not quite comfortable with and usually swap at 3.3 volts. Here again I think I read that 3.25 was the very bottom limit but here again I can't find that article right now to offer up evidence of my claim. All I really wanted to do is enjoy my Provari, not use analogs certainly not get all wound up over the concerns of damaging stuff. However OCD and Nitpicky-ness does seem to be a common trait amongst Vapers.

Yes I even got the bigger sized bottle of Noalox (my devices are adding up quick). I wipe all contacts and threads down with iso alcohol. I take a pensil eraser to the positive pin on the inside. I apply all threads with Noalox (light coat) then remove any excess. Funny it worked wonders on my Vamo too.

It's at the bottom of the page on Provape. They do not recommend Trustfire, Ultrafire batteries and have no mention of efest. I have both AW IMR and efest IMR 18350.

I did mean 3.25 volts !!!

It never ceases to amaze me how different what I type is from what I was thinking and what my fingers said.

Can I blame it on a "Senior Moment"... Hmmm... even I don't like the sound of that excuse.
