I've been using what I believe to be 2mm Ekowool from a US vendor. Using 32awg Kanthal, I get 4 wraps on two strands to hit 1.5ohms. I just received an order of 1.5mm Ekowool from a UK vendor, and it seems much much thinner than my 2mm. It takes me 6 wraps on three strands to hit 1.5ohms.

For some reason, this doesn't seem right to me, and I really don't know if I got what I ordered in terms of thickness. For those who like 1.5mm or 2mm Ekowool on the Diver, do my numbers above agree with or conflict with your experience?

i believe they conflict my experences if Im not mistaken I get 1.5 ohms on my 1.5 ekowool with 4 wraps

Our Ecowool Hollow 1 is like a 2.00mm in thickness

admittedly, i have not browsed this thread thoroughly, so please excuse me if this is a redundant question, but is there a "rebuilding the diver for dummies with zero experience and less luck with rba's" thread anywhere? i just got mine today, and much to my amazement, i managed to put the pre-built coil in it, and it's working incredibly well, with a 1.9 ohm reading on a sigelei 19... i'm in love with it! however, i know nothing about resistance/non-resistance wire or coil wrapping, and i'm in way over my head. any advice or guidance would be really appreciated.

Quick question. What's the best way to remove an installed coil? I just tried to remove the included coil to try one that I made using the spare ceramic cup and I broke the first ceramic doing it. I assume pulling out the pin is the first step. If so I guess I need some very fine pointed pliers. Is there a trick to this?

I just pull out the brass positive pin with my finger tips.

I got bored again, and removed my perfectly good 1.8 ohm coil from the Diver. I just got some AWG 30 in, and did 4 wraps of straight R wire around some XC-116. Turned out to be 1.5 ohms, and on an 18650, and my Hangsen DIY RY4, well... All I can say is Mmmmmmm Mmmmmm Mmmmmm!!!

To the poster who broke a ceramic with 30... My trick was to just bend enough wire into the ceramic's positive post to catch the wire. I noticed the pin was going in tight, so I used a screwdriver to slowly turn the pin while applying gentle pressure. Worked like a charm...

The 1mm, 2mm and 3mm Ekowool is hollow, the 1.5mm Ekowool is not.

I order my Diver yesterday with some 1mm hollow Ekowool and a couple of Siam mods glass tanks with ss ends. Also ordered 0.17mm res wire and 0.20 nres wire. Hope i get this beauty up and running ok

Want to get it along some ceramic cups, I broke one and now I only have one left with no spares

Thanks, it's going to be my first experience with a RBA so i hope it's not going to be too challenging.

When i'm checking the resistance of the coil do i just put my multimeter on the two screw down points of each end of the coil?

Place 1 lead on the brass pin (positive) and the other on the threads of the base (negative).

Depending on the gage of resistance wire you are using, the resistance may be predetermined by the length of the resistance wire used.

so if i test the resistance of the wire before i coil it and then test once its coiled, if there is a big difference in resistance that should indicate a short right?
