Ok, I have been using my Diver for a couple of weeks and I need to get some wire so I can rebuild some coils. I'm going to get some ready wire in NR-R-NR, my best option is to get my resistance of choice (I'm going with 1.55ohm) in the longest NR leads as possible, correct?

So I should get the 1.5 - 1.5" NR, right?

I assume I should pickup the Ekowool Silica cord as well.

Ready wires and silica getting delivered today.

With the ready wires, how many wraps or do I wrap all of the resistance wire so both the welds of the NR wire touch the silica?

You have to have ALL of the resistance wire touching the silica.. If you have a little NR wire touching it does not really matter.

Ok. Got one built. Used a 1/16 drill bit and did 2mm doubled silica.

I'm getting some dry hits. What could/would cause that?

Several things could cause dry hits with the Diver..

1) Make sure the wick ends are not to long. They should not touch the threads
2) Make sure the juice hole is centered between the wick ends: ===O=== (= is wick ends and O is juice hole)
3) Coil wrapped to tight around the wick
4) Tank overfill. Make sure the tank is only filled to about 80% max

1. Check. Cut them short.
2. Check. That was the first thing I did when I got it. Mark the feed hole.
3. I used a drill bit so I wouldn't think its too tight.
4. Half full.

Any other ideas?

That's all I haz...

Maybe Konstantinos can chime in and offer some other solutions. As far as I know, the things I listed are it, as far as solving dry hits goes..

I'm think you are choking the wick. Either the wire is too tight or the wicks are too tight in the slots.

I think I got it. Took and trimmed just a little from the end.

I think leaving the wick ends to long is a common issue with the Diver when people 1st get it.

When I got my 1st one, I remember thinking 'no way the wick ends should be that short' The answer was 'heck yes, they actually should be that short'

Now that you have the setup nailed down, future builds will be a breeze!
