1mm quartz capillary tube inserted into RC glowplug coil. Small piece of wick material inserted in end of capillary tube that protrudes through the top of sealed liquid cart. Capillary effect draws liquid towards heatcoil for vaporisation.

This reminds me of a question I had about how the atomisers work. Does the liquid actually need to contact the heating coil or is the radiant/conducted heat on the metal mesh enough for vapourisation to occur?

If it's the latter then a transparent screen (mica?) could be used to cover the coil and prevent any build-up of carbon deposits.

Strayling - the juice needs to be in contact with the coil for quick heating and efficient use of the limited battery power. The alternative arrangement could potentially be easier to maintain and clean but the downsides are considerable - slow heat up, inefficient, casing would get hot, wicing path might be affected ...

Noting how clean the ceramic parts of the atty stay, a tiny (so efficient) ceramic heater would be a good choice, with juice contact.

twrodd - any links for the 'simple wire through middle'?

strayling - the ideal cermaic heaer element would be very small and i don't know if they are made so small as that and operable with around 4-5v and 1A.

parapo - those have te right power range (about 4w). that's all i know about them.

if i remember correctly the "os max #8" glow plug needs 1.5V 2-3 amps.

Yup that's about right. You can use a rechargeable glow plug stick that is made of a c-cell battery. Waiting on my first batch of liquid to arrive, but I got tons of glow plugs laying around. Might have to do some experimenting.

ive been reading all the different ideas about attys why not use the disposible theory just a wire thru the middle pretty simple an works very good

I thought that is what a "cartomizer is", and still way too expensive for a disposable.

They range anywhere between $2.50 to $4.00 each and in my personal experience they will only last for about 20 puffs, (they claim 1 cartomizer = half a pack of cigarretes HA HA)
I refill them even it is harder to do, but even then they have a very limited life span because the heating element going through the center ends up burning the filling material rendering it useless, let alone what kind of poison that filling material being burned produces.

If they would cost .50 cents each, it might be a good option, for now, I will have to drip or refill my 801,901,510 cartridges.

That is pretty much exactly how my first, Red Draggon, ecig looked and worked.

A single wire, vertical atty in the center of the tube with a gauze like wick wrapped around the whole thing.

Worked great from the factory but I found dripping into it didn't hold up too well. I think my juice was too thick to flow properly but I didn't have anything at the time to thin it out a bit.
