I had ordered some Riva kits for some people I know. A friend that I sold it to called me up and said the atomizer went dead the 2nd day. He wasn't dripping, just using the pre-filled carts. I went and made sure, and sure enough it wouldn't even make a sound. Is this just a falty atomizer from China or can it be revived?

oops-- yes

Alright, I will do that. I have a meter but how would I go about testing it? Also, this is what the guy from China had to say after I told him about the falty atomizer.

"The reason of atomizer going dead gennerlly has 2,
1, no e liquid in the atomizer
This situation is very commom,no e liquid in it ,atomizer will burn bad directly.

2, HV atomizer is used with a commom e cig battery
The first reason is very commom, if no e liquid in the atomizer , when you use it.

If the atomizer are not the 2 reasons above, pls let me know"

It sure could have been a faulty atty. If your friend is new to vaping he might have tried to use it dry. Thats the easiest way to pop one even with a pre-filled cart that has gone dry.

Or, the post in the center of the atty may have been pushed up by over tightening. Maybe take a drywall screw and carefully try to twist it in the hole in the bottom of the atty WITHOUT twisting the post around. Once you have a decent grip on the post with the screw, try and pull it out a bit and see if it will work then. I've had this happen several times, and have fixed it by doing this. Good luck, and hope this helps.

I see...so to prevent this from happening, should I coat the atty in some liquid before them using cartridges?

set the multimeter to the resistance setting

positive lead goes to center post of atty

negative lead goes to threads of atty

you should get a resistance of 2.5 ohms or so. If it says open (won't display a value), the atty is dead. If it says 0, the atty is short, which could POSSIBLY be repaired.

Ok I attempted with a LR atomizer I had here that I was thinking was dead and got 0L or something like that.. and then I tried my LR atomizer from my PV and got an ohm reading. With the "dead" atomizer the reading doesnt change at all..When there is nothing on the volt meter, it reads 0L or I guess just 0, then it doesnt change when I did the "dead" atomizer. So does this mean it can POSSIBLY be repaired? Since it says 0?
