This has probably been answered a ton of times but I can't find the answer. I just got a 1000mah joyetech passthrough batterie kit in the mail today, it included a 510 lr atomizer and stainless drip tip. I am really new to vapeing having a 510 knockoff for about a week using it with pre filled cartridges. This is my first try dripping, my problem is I drip 3 drops directly on the atomizer let it sit a minute then try vapeing. The first hit tastes fantastic, then all after that have a real bitter taste to them. I blew out the atomizer when first got it, put some red bull 24mg juice on it and first hit was good but then went bad at second hit. I blew everything out again and tried peppermint, which was amazing for the first hit, then went bitter and bad tasting again. What am I doing wrong?

I think it might just be my juice. I too the atti off and filled a ego horizontal coil 2.3 ml cartomizer and still has an off taste. and next to no vapour, good throat hit with both drip and carto but next to no vapor. Staring to wander if I maybe should have bought something different. It is all jayetech branded stuff so assumed would be good.

Try another juice, or a higher resistance atty. Some juice just plain sucks with a LR atty. The first hit tastes o.k. because it's not getting as burned as subsequent hits. By the time you do another hit, the juice is really cooking and, if it's not a good juice for a really hot coil, that's when you'll find out.

Just goes to show you. As a rule, the companies that make or sell the best hardware are generally NOT the best places to get juice. IME, it's just the opposite. I've found a few exceptions to that rule, but I generally don't buy juice where I buy hardware, or the same brand juice as hardware.

3 drops is not going to get you far with the LR atty ! Yep, that one draw is about it...LR uses way more liquid ! It is a hotter vape.

Exactly! The LR burns a lot hotter than an SR. I picked up a bridgeless atty with a drip shield and I normally can get around 6 drops in there, and that's only good for a few puffs.... A few great puffs though

agree with other comment. If that atty came with primer you need to blow it out pretty good first. Then re-prime with your juice (4-6 drops) wait 30 seconds or so and give it 2 drops. take a dry hit (no button) if you get a little gurgle, hit it. If not, give it 1 more drop and try again. If by chance you do flood it (really wet gurgles or leaking) you may need to blow some out and try again. Takes a little while to get the feel for it, but dripping is the strongest hit I've found (fired up a new LR306 tonight ).

Thanks for the help guys, I think I may just not like my juice I got. I got a peppermint, a red bull flavour, and a vanilla coffee. The peppermint I'm ok with the other two just make me gag, can't even start to smoke them, I've tried dripping and cartomizer, so far peppermint with the carto is all I can stand. Hopeing this works out its my first analog free day.

depending on the exact voltage of the eGo batt you have, my guess is you have the right atomizer, since i believe joyetech puts out a regulated 3.3 or 3.4v batt... you'll want to use LR in 1.7 to 2.0 Ohm range... nothing higher than a SR 2.2 or 2.3 Ohm imo.

Some eGo and ego clones have higher voltages; and an LR may be too low of resistance.
It's best to find out from the eGo vendor because many are PWM (pulse width modulated) and won't register on a meter.

that said, looks like you got the right advice all around and are on the right track.

Good juice is another "journey" for new vapers; find what you really like and stick with it.
*I find a straight menthol (non tobacco) is good for clearing out bad flavors... just use the menthol for a while and then try another juice.

Ya the battery and atomizer came as part of a kit together so assuming there right, both joyetech branded, its the ego 1000mah passthrough battery with a 510 lr atomizer

pretty cool to come with an LR and a SS d/t... that's sweet.
I got the same batt from Gotvapes on the way (no atomizer, no d/t) , just because i like knowing it's a regulated voltage; and 3.3v is just fine if you have the right LR resistance. But what's right for one might not be "right" for someone else; what could be happening is your atomizer is very low resistance, like 1.5 but i doubt it as they say not to use that on an eGo batt 'cause it could hurt the batt, so it's probably like 1.8... in any case, it may just be burning hot, causing the first drops to vaporize quick, and what's left is scorching.
In that case you could check the Ohms of the atomizer to find out and get the next resistance up... say it's a 1.8, you could try a 2.0 LR 510... some of the better vendors for attys have them. Or just learn exactly the right amount of juice to put in and when to add more... they say keep LR's wet, and that's why. On the other hand, if you put too much juice, it's worse, because you won't get enough vapor; let alone flavor. So after blowing out the new atty, and priming, be safe and add a little at a time until you get the right vape, then you'll know how much it takes on a regular basis.

Ya this is what I got for $44 can
Consisting:
1pc 1000mAh Joye eGo USB battery
1pc 1.5ohm 510 Low Resistance Atomizer
1pc 510 Metal Drip Tip
1pc USB cord
1pc 10ml Free sample juice
The atomizer does say joyetech on it.
It says metal drip tip but I do enough fabricating I was very surprised for it to be stainless. I'm thinking its more the juice, now that I have everything on the table, the two juices that have the bad taste, actually smell like what they taste if that makes any sense, not smell like vanilla but have an off smell to them that smells like the bad taste. lol I think I been up to long not sure if that makes sense. I also have a 30ml tobacco flavour laying around from my original 510 kit that didn't really work. And it smells fine.

wow, 1.5 Ohms is as hot as it gets so you might have better (for you) vape with a 1.8 Ohm ... the thing about dripping LR's is that after the first few pulls, the vapor gets harsh just because LR's burn hotter.... it's a fine line between resistances... as you go up, the vapor cools, but then without enough heat you don't get as much vapor.
So enjoy those first couple tokes and then drip like 1 or 2 more drops.

+1 On all of the above comment. I have zero experience with anything "Joyetech" but that's about how the instructions read for a couple higher-end atty brands I've used. They did not come with primer, so I just primed with 5 drops of juice & set atty on a paper towel or tissue for 30 seconds or so, then add 3 drops. If no leak is evident, screw it on my PV & vape away. In the above suggestion adding only 2 drops to begin vaping might be a better idea, then add another if needed.

Also two other suggestions: I mix a fairly high VG content juice for dripping - usually close to 50/50 PG/VG, and pretty high nic content (30+mg). THEN I control the "cook-time" with the button. I preheat for a couple seconds, begin the vape, release button maybe 3 - 4 seconds into the draw & continue to draw until I have a mouthful of vapor. With a bit of experimentation I find what works best for different flavors/mixes, always keeping in mind that the final adjustment is made with that little button. Doesn't matter so much how low the resistance is, if the coil is wet (not flooded) & I don't hold the button down long enough to burn the juice, the juice won't burn. Kinda like making gravy on a little bitty electric stove. (And I'm thinking, "Man, I hate electric stoves! I think I'm make a GAS PV mod!" (not really) :D

Happy Vaping! :vapor: :toast:

I got it from cevstore.com here in bc can. The juice was flavour crafters. Dripping with the peppermint is working good now, super clean taste (I washed out the atomizer with iso ) flavour is great, little vapour, but getting little vapor using the carto too. Looks like i got to wait till the 5th and order some different juice. Thanks for all the help guys
