Hey guys I have a positive post (rda) that is wanting to slide up and down on me, I would just replace the 510 insulator, but I'd have to remove the press-fitted top portion and that would loosen it, it's just not a good idea. It's not bad, I just need a dab of something that's heat resistant, non-conductive, and non-toxic so I'm not breathing any fumes when it heats up. Any recommendations would be much appreciated because it's my favorite rda (yeah it's that good :p seriously), soldering popped into my head but if it's conductive that would be a bad situation because it's between the positive 510 connecting pin, and the negative threads, so it would short there.

Thanks so much for any recommendations!

(Not mine, similar situation)

Silicone is high-temp stable and some formulas even more so. I'm wondering about the high-temp silicone sealants like those used in automotive/engine gasket applications. If they're 100% silicone you should be good after it completely cures. And silicone can be either a conductor or insulator depending on the formula.

JB Weld makes a high temp non-toxic epoxy... But, that's non toxic if ingested. I really don't know at what temperature it could give off any sort of fumes. That might be a good question for their 'contact us' form on their website.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, definitely some options there, I probably have both where I work (Lowe's), so I'll check'em out. I temporarily fixed it by sacrificing my Trident clone (thing sucked anyway, both posts chipped on me), and using one of it's insulators to completely hold it firm. Problem now is the 510 isn't adjustable, and it's poking out a mm or two so it won't sit flush on anything!

-But I have my favorite RDA back to 100% (well 99%), so I'm happy! Who cares how it looks :p.

I'm not sure what is sliding up and down. From what you said, I think it's the positive post you screw the coil into, correct? Or is it the 510 positive post (which is connected to the coil positive post).

What RDA is it?

It's all good I figured it out, thank you though. The 510 positive post (middle post, and 510 connection screw, the usually copper/silver screw that screws into the positive post and makes it adjustable), the whole middle/positive "shaft" of the dominator RDA wasn't being secured by the insulators very well. So it was sliding up and down.

I'm in love with the Dominator RDA I purchased recently, however there was one gripe I had with it, the "push and shoot" spring-style posts that it originally came with are slightly weak. So if you put a thicker wire in, it won't make the most solid connection. So to help make this my perfect RDA, I took my favorite positive post from my brass monkee RDA (the "T" post style, with two positive coil holes, alot like the helios), and installed it in the dominator after some measurements. And now it's a great success! :D Turns out all I needed was just an ever-so-slightly beefier insulator, which my favorite brick and mortar had for me. Here's some pics:

She won me a cloud competition recently! She definitely puts out with her stock dual 4mm airflow, and I can change my coils like a pit stop now.

Any glue that is not food grade would not be recommended. JB weld is heat rated but not food grade. What RDA is that. May be able to come up with a better solution than glue.

Yeah I don't want to be inhaling toxic fumes lol, certain solder's would've worked. But I decided to find the correct insulator. It's the dominator RDA, with the brass monkee's middle post installed in it.
