Is super glue ok near a batt???

so my new lava tube is only a few days old, and the plastic battery cap poped off of the metal screw part.

It's only held in there by two plastic posts, and looks like it was glued at the factory.

So I applied some super glue and it's back on there, good as new.


Question is, should I be worried about anything if the battery blows? Like, would the super glue heat up and produce toxic vapors or anything.

Please don't laugh if this is the dumbest question you've read. I'm just new to these huge batteries and I want to be careful.

i am not familiar with the tank you are using but, i do know that most super glues are toxic,,that is bad

rtv black is a much better choice ,,,resilient to most everything and bonds to about everything except aluminum

I havent had any problems with super glue near the batteries in any of my mods, but I cant say for sure its 100 percent safe. Id say as long as you let it dry all the way, it shouldnt cause any issues.

...if your batt catches fire or gets hot enough to cause the SG to give off fumes, you have other, bigger problems to worry about...like the fumes from the batts themselves, or from the plastic body of the PV or the mushroom cloud rising over your humble abode...imjusayin..................

Not a problem, it's dry and at the other end of the mod plus I wouldn't think you used much at all. As mad said if that should happen you've got bigger problems than a drop of dried superglue. I would have used Epoxy though just because it bonds metal to plastic better, if it comes loose again try that, should hold better.

Thanks everyone. I know I have bigger problems if the bat goes bad, but I've never expierenced that before. So I didn't know if the fumes were even noticable, and if they would react with the super glue.

guess I'll just go with it for now, and if it happens again, I'll use expoxy. that just seemed like a messier solution at the time.

i dont think superglue is toxic they use a type of superglue for skin closer for cuts and know people have used regular superglue for cuts. i dont know what will happen if you catch it on fire, but by then you have bigger problem than toxic vapor

same thing happend to me with my lava tube. i used super glue and have had not a problem 1....!

My endcap came off the batt end also. It was in my purse so I guess it got snagged on something. I used gorilla glue to glue it back on.
