So far in my quest for vape perfection, which started only a little over a month ago, Ive learned a TON!

I took the advice I found all over the forum regarding the pros/cons of atomizers and cartomizers, which atomizers and carts were the best. I watched the videos and read the reviews. I spent the money to try out each of them.

The initial impression I got was that atomizers were the best way to vape.

I bought up nearly every high-end atomizer based on suggestions/reviews found here to see what one would perform to my liking.

I also read about carts on a Reo so I figured Ill try those too. I read that Boges are highly reviewed so I picked up a 5 pack.

..

....

.....

........

Now, after a month or so of dedicated experimentation, with nearly all the most recommended atomizers and carts, do I find myself putting a cartomizer on my Reo?

For some reason, my carts produce much more flavor and vapor than ANY of the attys Ive tried, and they are more consistent and user-friendly. Every atty Ive tried didnt really have any outstanding quality about them. They all made ok vapor, ok flavor, and all of them would tighten up after a day or so of use. Even the $22 ones...

Im using Johnson Creek Tennessee Cured VG exclusively. Its actually just as thin as my TC PG.

My question is what am I doing wrong? Is the atomizer just hype?

It could be just your preference. I had a carto phase where I preferred them over atomizers. I'm back to liking atomizers better now.

Atomizers also require a break-in period before they really sing.

If Boge cartos are doing it for you, there's nothing at all wrong with that. You're not doing anything wrong.

Clean all your attys in some vodka or everclear, blow them out, prime them with some unflavored PG, and then use some carto condoms on both ends to keep out dirt and moisture and put them away for a while. You can revisit attys down the road if you like.

I feel like Im missing something though, almost everyone uses attys but (In my experience) I cant figure out why. I should be blown away by the performance of a $22 atomizer vs a $8 five pack of cartos, but so far Im not seeing why.

I have cleaned my attys and given them a fair chance, but so far I just dont see the performance...

My old-re-used Boge carto easily makes 4x the vapor of any of the attys Ive used, even on their best vape..

I want to see that my money went to a better vape, but sadly, I dont see it..

I use Boge LR2.0s exclusively on my REOs, for me it is just a better vape, I get good flavor and I love all the vapor they produce. I really don't see anything wrong with them, just my personal preference. I do have a small Bogger Box mod, non feeder that I have a 306 on for testing new juice, but I always reach for my REO and Boge carto if I decide if the juice is REO worthy.

I started with 306 LR atty's on the REO's (never liked the 510 atty much), always the higher-end ones from Cisco or Ikenvape. I was marginally happy with them - sometimes they'd taste burnt and I'd have to de-wick them. Sometimes I'd get a good one that would last a month, and another one might last a day or two. I gave cartos another try last summer and haven't looked back. I really like the shorty 1.7 Smoktech ones, they're perfect for a bottom-feeder. The only complaint I have is consistency - a good one will last me a week or more, and a bad one may only last me a day or two. But at least they're cheap, and require no maintenance. When the rebuildable atty is available, my intention is to switch to that.

how different experiences are :) over a year ago i concluded that carto's/clearo's, VG juice and us were not a good match, they lasted us 1 or 2 days at most. new atty's last us at least 6 weeks before cleaning is needed, after that some more rounds of several weeks are added, till the draw gets too stiff, the taste is beyond repair or the resistence gets too high. these are regular 510's joy's, joytech's or totally wicket's. no clue why tho, we just vape away and prolly abuse the atty's quite a bit :D

I go back and forth, and like both for different reasons at different times. Right now I'm loving the little 1.7 ohm shorty cartos from Smoktech (I think....??), but I also LOVE the 1.5 ohm HH 357 atomizers from Avid. There's just simply (for me) nothing better than the 357s for flavor and vapor, but the shorty cartos are soooo convenient and so consistent. I never have to worry that I've over-squonked and might have a drip cup leak in my purse or pocket. And they give me a really nice, warm vape that's almost as good as my attys. I have cartos on a couple of REOs and 357s on a couple. Best of both worlds....:)

I went almost a year with cartos 90% and attys 10% of the time.

Like you said the cartos give (gave) better flavor and are absolutely easier to use consistently.
Plus the added benefit of a perfectly dry catch cup all the time.

All I can say is this keeping up with the 10% atomizers gave me the skills and realization that atomizers make much better flavor and about equal vapor IMHO.

But to do so you have to learn to vape the atty dryer. I think most people vape an atomizer way too wet.
Wet = Weak performance.
Of course too dry = YUKin mother****** NASTY.
And I still have to clean them every 6ml or so. Not a problem when I have 30 in rotation :D

Take my route, switch back and forth and some day you get the hang of it.
I've been vaping 2+years and only the last 3-4 months have atomizers been my friend.

Its a rare bird in the vaping community that sticks with one thing for very long anyway :D What fun is that ??

I've used exactly one cartomzer in the last few months, it made it 22 hours before I wanted my atomizer yummy taste back.

BTW, that atomizer that convinced me was the HH-357.
If you can't make that bad boy taste better than any cartomizer on the market you are doing something wrong.

Now I have settled on the Cisco Bridgless 306 at 1.5 ohms its works performs almost as well as the HH.
It never floods mysteriously on me and loves to be vaped nice and hot right on the dry side.

The only problem, but a biggie, with Boges is that the batting burns. I've taken them apart and seen how they've been scorched. That can't be good so I went back to attys. Yeah, at first they tasted really good and produced clouds of vape. I tried the CE2s and they never did wick right and built up black crust on the coil so quicky that they were toast pretty quick too. I've looked at the dual coil rigs but have read they aren't any better and burn too.

I'd rather use the cheaper cartos but can't seem to find one that works better than attys. I use the Joye 510 LR in bulk 10 packs from one vendor (along with AW IMRs batts) but they are about 4.50 each. I go though one about every 1.5 weeks or so. They clog up or simply burn out - yeah I drill them out too. I've had two pop in the last week after just a few days of use.

Sheez!

I haven't looked at what is available in the last six to eight months, just standing pat right now. If someone knows of a better way, I'm open to suggestions
